CHAPTER CCXLII.

An Act to incorporate the inhabitants of the town of   Dancyville in Haywood County.

Commissioners to lay off town

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, that Wm. Wells, Solomon Payne, John Moore, George Cooper, David Dancy and Doctor Hawkins are hereby appointed commissioners to lay off and mark the limits of the town of Dancyville, in the County of Haywood, and shall make out a plan, and plot the same; a certified copy of which they shall deposit in the county court clerk’s office for said county, and all streets, lanes and allies, designated as such upon said plan, shall inure to and remain for use of said town.

Regulations

Sec. 2. Be it enacted, that the said town of Dancyville and the inhabitants thereof, are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate, by the name of the mayor and aldermen of the town of Dancyville, under the same rules, regulations and restrictions, and with the same power, privileges and capacities as are extended to and enjoyed by inhabitants of the town of Brownsville in the County of Haywood, by an act "entitled an act to incorporate the inhabitants of the town of Brownsville in the County of Haywood," and every article, clause and section of the act aforesaid, incorporating the town of Brownsville, shall have as full force, operation and effect in the government of the town of Dancyville and the inhabitants thereof, and all other persons concerned therein, as if herein again especially enacted.

Sec. 3 Be it enacted, That the sheriff or deputy sheriff of Haywood County, or the constable of the civil district in which the said town of Dancyville is situated, shall open and hold an election on the first Monday of January in each and every year in said town, for the election of seven aldermen, to serve for one year, who, when elected, shall choose by ballot one of their own body for mayor, who shall serve for the same length of time for which he was chosen as alderman. They shall also elect a treasurer, recorder and town constable, who shall perform all the duties appertaining to their respective offices, and the said constable shall execute all process which by the acts of incorporation aforesaid, he is bound and of right should do.
