Ann [Earp] was born on February 12, 1829. She apparently lived less than a year,
but there is some confusion in the record [not cited]; it states she lived ten
months and a day, but gives the co ntradictory date of death as January 5, 1839
[sic]. This should have been December 13, 1839 if the birth and age information
are correct.

No. 6. ... Nicholas married Virginia Ann Cooksey July 30, 1840 at Hartford,
Kentucky. She bore him five sons and three daughters, of the latter Martha and
Virginia Ann died young, and only Adelia, bo rn in 1861, survived to adulthood.

died in San Bernardino, California, on January 14, 1893 (Colyn collection; Earp
genealogy).
- Jean Whitten Edwards, Earp Family Genealogy, p. 140.
- Ibid., p. 140. She is listed as having died in Warren County,
Illinois, but I think it is in error. Martha is shown (age 5) with her parents
and siblings in the 1850 Marion County, Iowa census and is probably wher e she
died.

However, her parents had removed to Marion County, Iowa by 1850. However, Virginia's

her mother returned to Illinoi s and she was born there.
