Fourth Generation

50. Virgil Edwin EARP2 was born on 19 Apr 1879 in Arizona. He died on 20 Nov 1959 in Solano County, California. Virgil Edwin Earp is shown with his parents and siblings on the 1880 Village of Garden City, Sequoyah County, Kansas census (p. 461), listed as the youngest child and recorded as "Edwin" rather than Virgil. He is shown as age 1 and born in Kansas. The enumerators were suppose to list children under age of 1 in months in fractions. This was done in other instances by this enumerators. However, in order to determine whether Virgil Edwin Earp was actually born in 1879 or 1880, additional sources need to be checked. He died after 1958, but I do not have a copy of his death certificate.

Grace Jean SCOTT2 (daughter of [--?--] SCOTT and [--?--] HARVEY) was born on 12 Feb 1879 in Holister, San Benito County, California. She died on 2 Mar 1958 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California. She was buried in East Lawn Cemetery, Sacramento, Sacramento County, California. She was cremated -- East Lawn Cemetery, Sacramento, Sacramento County, California. March 3, 1958.

Sarah Scott was, according to her obituary, in Sacramento, California Bee (Monday, 3 March, 1958), the mother of a son, Irving S. Memsen (of Oakland, California) and a daughter, Mrs. Alice M. Wright (or Eugene, Oregon). She also had sisters: Mrs. Helen Kocher and Mrs. Hattie LaFranchi (of Berkeley, California).

Per e-mail 22 June 1998 to the compiler from: Woody @@

Evidently Sarah Scott had been married previously to a [--?--] Memsen?
