First Generation
1. Walter EARP1,2 was born in 1787 in Montgomery County,
Maryland.3 He died on 30
Jan 1853 in Monmouth, Warren County, Illinois.3
Walter Earp (1787-1853) was a teacher according to the Earp Family Genealogy
and "was occupied for many years in the primitive schools of the middle
[sic] west [sic]." He moved to Kentucky and settled in Russellville, Logan
County, where Walter Earp taught school a few years, thence to Morgantown, Butler
County (Kentucky) where he taught for a few years. He also was a licensed preacher
in the M.E. (Methodist Episcopal) Church.
From Butler County, Walter Earp moved to Ohio County, improved a farm and lived
there for about 20 years. In 1847 the entire family moved from Kentucky to Illinois
and settled in the city of Monmouth, in Warren County.

Ann EARLY were married in 1808 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.3 Martha Ann EARLY2 was born on 28 Aug 1790 in North Carolina.3 She died on 24 Sep 1880 in Monmouth, Warren County,
Illinois.3 Martha Ann Early
and her husband, Walter Earp, "raised all the children born to them, lived
to see all married and settled in life."
"She was a woman of strong mind and quick perception, quick to discern between
the right and wrong and uphold the right, but her faith and trust in God, and
promises were stronger still..."
She lived to be 91 years and 17 days old, leaving behind her eight children,
being the mother of 9 children, the grandmother of 85, the great-grandmother
of 130, and the great-great-grandmother of 13, making in all 237 of the family
--from the eulogy that Jonathan Douglas Earp wrote in September of 1880 for his
mother, and which appears on pages 136-137 of Earp Family Genealogy. Walter
