This page contains a table which lists the German villages from which our Germanna ancestors immigrated. These were the colonists who arrived in Virginia in 1714 and 1717 (with a few "late-comers" between 1717 and about 1725), and settled at "Germanna". The table lists the villages, the region of Germany in which each village is located, names of the individuals that came from each village, and the Michelin Deutschland Map in which each village can be found. In the first column, a village name can be clicked to take you to a short history of that village, or maps, or photos, whichever are available.
In the "Location" column, the location is as follows:
1. Borough/Community/Municipality
2. Town
3. District
4. Administrative Region
5. State
(If I have misplaced any of these villages as to the State, Administrative Region, District, Town, etc., please email me at [email protected]. I've tried to locate them at Mapquest and Wikipedia, but some of them are so small their exact placement within the structure of Germany is difficult.)

*Nicholas YGER & Anna Maria SIEBER married 11 May 1706 in Marienthal, Palatinate, Germany.
***We use the surname BREYHEL here because that is the first spelling of the name that is found in the Virginia records; however, Johannes eventually was entered into the Colonial records as "John BROYLES". If one wants to be a "purist" when it comes to the spelling of his name, he/she is out of luck. There IS no definite spelling for the name! In the tisheim Lutheran Church Records, in Germany, his and his family's name was spelled variously: BRIEL, BREYEL, BREIHEL, BREIHELS, BREEL, BREHEL, BRUEL, BREUEL, etc. I suppose that we should get used to the fact that, in those times, surnames usually had no specific spelling. The name was written as the "scribes" "heard" the name, and as they thought it should be spelled.
