John K. (Ken) Broyles, Sr. Publications

Ken Broyles has researched the BROYLES/BRILES genealogy lines for the past 30 years. He was one of the first to convert Dr. Arthur Leslie Keith's Manuscript to a more ordered and more easily-read document. Over the years Ken has published a 10-volume set of The Broyles Family Ties, complete with indices. Each volume contains an assortment of records, plus several individual family lines, which were complete at the time they were published. As an example, you will find the family lineage for Frank BROYLES, the former University of Arkansas head football coach in one of the volumes. There are lineages for related families, such as WILHOIT/WILHITE and others.

In addition to The Broyles Family Ties, for almost 25 years, Ken published a bi-monthly Broyles Family Newsletter, in which he provided information on births, marriages, deaths, etc., of BROYLES/BRILES descendants. This is information provided by his subscribers, and information gathered from public sources. In the Newsletter, Ken provided Census Data, cemetery data, wills, court records, etc., with which he was provided by dedicated genealogists who subscribed to the Newsletter. Ken published the last Newsletter in August, 2000; however paper copies of the back issues are still available, but can only be obtained by ordering all 100 issues for a total price of $200, postage prepaid (was $300).

Ken has produced a CD containing all back issues of the Broyles Family Newsletter. Cost for the CD, with index, is $25, prepaid.

Ken has also published the first printed version of Dr. Arthur Leslie Keith's typescript. It is in four spiral bound volumes (the fourth volume also contains an index), and contains wills and all the census records on the BROYLES Family that Ken had available at the time of publication. These volumes actually contain considerably more than the individuals and data from Dr. Keith's typescript. Ken has added to the family lines that Dr. Keith started in the early 1900's, in many cases completing family lines down to the present generation, and adding lines that were not in Dr. Keith's typescript. There are 1294 pages in the 4 volumes, and they are 8½" X 11" in size. The cost for these 4 volumes is $94.95, which includes postage. (Single volumes may be purchased for $25.00 each, including postage.) They will be mailed in a box to protect them from damage.

Several years ago, Ken received The Brohl Coat of Arms from Heinrich Brohl of Germany. No one is sure if BROHL is related to our family line, although some have conjectured that it is just another spelling variation of the original name BREUEL. Regardless, The Brohl Coat of Arms has been reproduced in color on an offset press, and is 8" X 10" in size, and we thought some of you might be interested in it. (There is no Coat of Arms for the name BROYLES, even though some may try to sell you one. The name BROYLES was not used by this family until their arrival in America.) The BROHL Coat of Arms is dated 1332 and costs $5.50, postage prepaid.

Also available is a wooden notebook (3 ring binder) for your family history. Ken has put the BROHL Coat of Arms on the front. (If you request it, Ken will put BROYLES on the front instead of BROHL, as he had done for himself.) The wooden notebook has the Coat of Arms painted on the cover, in color, with a clear finish over it. The cost is $50.00, postage prepaid. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery. (Ken has also indicated that he will make wooden notebook covers with Coats of Arms for other family surnames. All that is required is that the customer provide a good color photo of the Coat of Arms.)

There are a few copies left of the Broyles Family Cookbook. Cost is $6.00, prepaid.

Ken also provides Family Sheets for you to fill out and return to him if you want to provide him with data that is not contained in the discontinued Broyles Family Newsletter, or in the Dr. Keith Manuscript. In case Ken revises the Manuscript at a later date, and you would like your line(s) included, obtain the Family Sheets, which may be obtained by sending a request to Ken and include a SASE.
