John & Eleanor Blankenbaker's German Photos, May 2000

(This Page Was Last Modified Wednesday, 08-Jul-2009 15:24:30 MDT.)

These pages are devoted to the photographs taken by John and Eleanor Blankenbaker during their May, 2000, and May, 2002, trips to Germany and Austria, where they visited the hometowns of some of our Germanna ancestors.

(I had to compress the photo files in order to allow quicker web browser loading and downloading; therefore, some of them may not be as good a quality for printing as some of you might wish.  If you find photos that you would like to print out for framing and display, and would like the uncompressed versions, send me an email here.  Be sure to identify the town/village, and the specific name of the photo.  GWD, Webmaster)

(These pages are optimized for screen sizes of 800 x 600 or larger.  It is very difficult to write HTML for web pages when users have their computer screen size set from 640 x 480, up to 1024 x 768, or sometimes even 1280 x 1024, or 1600 x 1200.  I've looked at the statistics on what screen sizes users of this web site have used over the past 24 months, and here is what I find:

TOTAL USERS:  16,909

Resolutions, percentage of users & number of users:

  •  640 x  480 =  4.31%    (730 users)
  •  800 x  600 = 57.75%  (9,765 users)
  • 1024 x  768 = 31.24%  (5,283 users)
  • 1152 x  864 =  1.91%    (323 users)
  • 1280 x 1024 =  2.33%    (394 users)
  • 1600 x 1200 =   .27%     (47 users)
  •       Other =  2.17%    (367 users)

Therefore, although most pages are optimized for ALL screen sizes, some just don't look very nice at 640 x 480.  If tables, lists, etc., don't line up correctly at 640 x 480, I suggest you change your screen size to at least 800 x 600.  Very few users today (as can be seen in the above statistics) still use the smaller 640 x 480 size.
