Appendix A - Notes

1. John W. (Davison) DAVIDSON
Sheri Stout

GenForum -Ruth Brimner Davidson: Dr. James H. Davison, living in Georgia in 1833, is definitely
the son of Elias Davison of York County, SC. In my papers I found proof of the family connection.
also have the will of Margaret Hanna Lattimore Davison who died about 1840 in York Co. SC.
She was widow of Arthur Lattimore when she married Elias Davison and had a son, Robert
Lattimore, that she named in her will. She willed a negro boy, Sam, to her son, Doctor James H.
Davison. Margaret Hanna was the daughter of James Hanna. Elias Davison was the son of John W.
Davison and his first wife, Ruth. Elias was born 1761 in Pennsylvania and came to South Carolina
sometime after 1765 when his father first purchased land in SC. Have mention of deed to son
Elias from John W for 200 acres in 1782. My suggestion is to look for James H. Davison on 1840
Census of Georgia. We are still searching for proof of parents of John W. Davidson/Davison. Need
help on proving that he is son of Samuel Davison who died in Lancaster Co. PA about 1753.
Ruth Brimner Davidson.

Desc of John Davison from: "Robert Davison" davisonr@home.com
Quoting notes from James N. Land, Sn, his father, who was born in 1885, was a son of James Black
Davison's only daughter, Jane Olivia. James Black Davison told James Land's father that when he
was a youth, he had talked to his Grandfather Davison, and that his Grandfather Davison had
stated that he served as a buyer of supplies in the quartermaster department of the army
commanded by Lord Abercrombie that fought in this country (largely or perhaps entirely om what
is now NY State) in the French and Indian war in the 1750's.
One of the early settlers in York County, SC before the Revolutionary War, was John
Davison, and almost beyond a shadow of doubt that John Davison was the Grandfather of James
Black Davison. A son of John Davison, apparently the first son, was born in Pennsyvania in
1761, so John Davison may have come to SC from PA as did many other early settlers in that area
of SC. John Davison had nine sons and four daughters. One son was born in 1792,
thirty -one years after the son born in PA so John Davison must have been married at least
twice. He died in 1815 or early 1816.
In the 1800 Census of York County, a John Davidson, Sn is listed showing the following
information:
1 male under 10 years of age
2 males between 10 and 16 years of age
1 male between 16 and 26 years of age
1 male over 45 years of age
3 females between 16 and 26 years of age
1 female over 45 years of age
This information could account for 4 sons and 3 daughters. Considering that John, Jr was listed
in the 1800 Census would support that John, Sn had children over a relatively long period of time.

from: "John Smallwood" Sep 2000.
Elizabeth may not have predeceased her father. I have been studying my papers and with the
help of Ruth Davidson we have discovered that she may not have been dead. It mentions "the
heirs of my
daughter....", but doesn't call her deceased. "Heir" or "heirs" doesn't necessarily indicate
that the person was dead. The guardianship papers doesn't mention that either Jacob or
Elizabeth was dead.

Also, the 1830 Dallas County census suggests Jacob had a wife. Then in 1846 a Mrs. Elizabeth
Davidson married John Crow in Dallas County. We are still trying to discover if this is
Elizabeth Kuykendall.
I am a descendant of two of Jacob and Elizabeh's children, Jonathan S. and Anna Maranda.

By Whitney Montgomery
published in "The Navarro County Scroll", 1961
Walker Davidson, one of the pioneers of Eureka and Navarro County, was a white-haired old man when I
first knew him. He lived to be ninety years old, or perhaps older. He reared eight children,
all of whom are now deceased. My sister, Naomi, married his oldest son, John L. Davidson.
They had six children, of whom three are living; Robert and Harold of Corsicana, and Naomi
Davidson Blaize of Dallas. Deceased are Montgomery, Jack, and James.
