History This Regiment was organized in February, 1862, under Colonel Rodney Mason, who was succeeded by Colonel H.K. McConnel. It soon took the field in Kentucky under Sherman, and after a demonstration on Columbus it moved up the Tennessee River to Pittsburg Landing, and participated in the battle of Shiloh both days, sustaining a loss of 130 men. During the summer of 1862 it performed garrison duty on the Cumberland River, and in August was obliged to surrender to an overwhelming force at Clarksburg Tennessee. After its exchange it garrisoned the railroads in Tennessee until the battle of Nashville, where it was actively engaged with severe loss. Pearson was born in Miami County, near Troy, Ohio on 25 July 1837, died at the home of Adam Hall, Versailles, Ohio on 13 Nov. 1907 at the age of 70 years, 3 months, and 18 days. He united in marriage to Margaret Brandon on Aug. 23, 1866. This union was blessed with 8 children, four sons and four daughters, two daughters having preceded him to the spirit land. In 1862, he enlisted in the Civil War and faithfully served his country until February 1864, when he was honorably discharged and again faithfully served his country until Nov. 13, 1865 when he was again honorably discharged. About 20 years ago, he enlisted in the great army of the Lord at Osgood, Ohio and remained a member of the church until death claimed him. He leaves a loving wife; 4 sons, 2 daughters, 3 sisters, 13 grandchildren; 5 grandchildren having preceded him to the great beyond. Funeral services were held in the Osgood Christian Church where the writer preached to a very large concourse. The remains were laid to rest in Yorkshire Cemetery by L. Marker. Brandon: Obituary SUDDEN DEATH IN VERSAILLES Robert Brandon, One of the most Prominent of the Retired Citizens of Versailles, died Suddenly at his Residence the Evening of June 10, 1912 Apparently enjoying the best of health the announcement of the death, at his residence in Versailles, of Robert Brandon, the evening of the 10th. inst., from causes unknown, was a great shock to the community. All the day preceding his death there was no evidence of infirmity, except a complaint from the deceased a few minutes before retiring that he felt tired. Nothing unusual could appear from that, but a few minutes later his wife went into the sleeping room and found him dead. There had been no intimation of impending distress and the conclusion is arrived at that death was due to cerebral hemorrhage, soon after he retired. He was 67 years of age, a former most of his life, but resided in Versailles the past four years, retired. The survivors are a wife, two daughters and five sons, who were present at he funeral services from the Christian, at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, 13th. inst. 10 vii.
