Information Note:

It now seems essentially certain that the James Davidson who married the widow Mrs. Nancy (Martin) Isbell was NOT the James Davidson who was a known son of Reverend Alexander Davidson of DNA "Family 8."  It was, however, the Reverend's son named James Davidson (whose wife is not known at this time) who was the father of the Nancy Davidson who married John Murray shown in the below census.  This is part of the 1850 Hickman Co., TN census shown here:

Some people suspect that another James Davidson, whose second wife was the widow Mrs. Nancy (Martin) Isbell, was out of DNA "Family 1."  Some believe that this James Davidson was the known brother named James of Benjamin Davidson and Colonel William Davidson (among several other siblings), and hence, that this other James Davidson was a son of the Samuel Davidson of DNA "Family 1" who was in the Beverly Manor area of Augusta Co., VA in the 1730s or 1740s and beyond.  That Samuel Davidson was an apparent brother of "Import" John Davidson and George Davidson (and George Davidson was the father of Rev. War hero General William Lee Davidson).  This is the Davidson family for which Davidson College in NC, and Davidson County in both NC and TN, were named.  There was also a later/younger James Davidson who married the widow Mrs. Nancy (Sparks) Smith.  Some now believe that he was perhaps a son of the above Benjamin Davidson of DNA "Family 1."  In any case, it seems just about certain that neither of those two James Davidsons was the son of Reverend Alexander Davidson of DNA "Family 8."
