Daniel Davisson was born in Scotland (his age is 
fixed as 1630 from a court record in 1670 when he 
gave his age as "about 40 years") and was exiled 
to the Mass. Bay Colony as a prisoner of war having 
been a soldier in the Covenanter Army of Scotland. 
He landed in Ipswich, Mass. in 1651. On 13 Sept 
1666 he signed a loyalist petition. He served as a 
Major of the Essex Regiment and a member of the 
Ancient andd Honorable Artillery Co. in 1672.  He 
became a member of the Wenham, Mass. Meeting House 
on 5 Jan 1674 and was a resident of Ipswich 13 Feb 
1678.  He married Margaret Low (daughter of Thomas 
Low and Margaret Todd) on 13 April 1657. They had 
11 children. Today, So. Hamilton, Mass. is situated 
largely upon the lands he once owned.  Daniel died 
in 1693 and was interred in Wenham, Mass., Congre-
gational Church Cemetery.

Daniel Davisson, son of Daniel Davisson (1630-1693) 
and Margaret Low, was born  1662 in Ipswitch, Essex 
County Massachusetts.  On 28 June 1685, he married 
Sarah Dodge, born 13 Jan 1667 in New London, CT.  
They had 7 children. Daniel died 1702, New London 
County, CT.

Josiah Davisson, son of Daniel Davisson (1662-1702) 
and Sarah Dodge, was born 1692 in Wenham, Essex Co., 
Mass.  He married Mary Skelton with whom he had 12 
children.  Josiah died 1759, on Millstone River, near 
Princeton, NJ.

Obadiah Davisson, son of Josiah Davisson and Mary 
Skelton, was born about 1720 at Wading River, Long 
Island, NY.  He married Elizabeth ______ with whom 
he had 7 children.  He settled in Harrison Co., Va.
His date of death was subsequent to 17 July 1806, 
the date of a pertinent land conveyance.

Isaac Davisson, son of Obadiah Davisson and Elizabeth
 _______, was born 1753 in New Jersey on Devil's Brook.  
On 25 May 1779 he married Isabel Anderson with whom he 
had 13 children. He and Isabel were residents of Harrison 
County, Va. where their children were born. During the 
1830's he moved to Ohio. Isaac died 17 Oct 1847 and is 
buried at South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio.

Isaac Davisson, son of Isaac Davisson (1753-1847) and 
Isabel Anderson, was born 9 May 1790, Harrison Co., Va.
On 4 October, 1808 he married Sarah Curl with whom he 
had 13 children.  In 1810 he settled on land just east 
of South Charleston, Clark County Ohio.  Isaac died 29 August 1851 
near South Charleston.

James Gatch Davisson, son of Isaac Davisson (1790-1851), 
was born in South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio on 23 January 1829. 
On 17 September, 1853 he married Susan Wingate with whom 
he had 9 children. He died 11 July 1927 near Atlanta, Macon 
County Mo., and is buried in Hopewell Cemetary near Atlanta Mo.

Nellie Jane Davisson, daughter of James Gatch Davisson 
and Susan Wingate, was born near Atlanta, Missouri on 
26 July 1866.  On 30 May 1882 she married Jefferson 
Davis Hungate with whom she had 12 children.  Nellie 
died 25 April 1949 in Atlanta, Macon County, Missouri 
and is buried in Hopewell Cemetary.

Hazel Hungate, daughter of Nellie Jane Davisson and 
Jefferson Davis Hungate, was born on 4 December 1897 
near Atlanta, Macon County, Missouri. On 2 October 1926 she married 
John Martin Mettes with whom she had two sons. Hazel 
was a lifelong resident of Atlanta, Missouri. She died 
in 1996.
