WILLIAM H KIGER

WILLIAM H. KIGER was born 20 September 1840 in Salem County, New Jersey. Will Kiger served in the Pennsylvania 3rd Cavalry during the Civil War, and died 21 August 1864 in Andersonville Prison. He is buried in grave #6459. He married LIZZIE H. REEVE 07 November 1861 in Salem County, New Jersey, and they had one son Elmer Ellsworth Kiger (named for Elmer Ellsworth an early Union casualty of the War). Lizzie later remarried to George Green and lived in Salem County. Will Kiger's brother Richman Kiger was also a prisoner at Andersonville, and later wrote a letter to his parents telling them of the date of his brother's death, and saying he was with him at the end. He told his folks to put it in the family Bible.
