The Andres family are of German descent. Casper Andres traveled from Grossauheim, Kreis Hannon, Hessen, Germany with a sister, Regina, and one brother Henry to the States in 1854 and is believed that they landed in Newark, New Jersey. From here Casper moved into Illinois where he met his first wife, Anna Maria Gruensfelder. Here he settled and had several children. They were Agnes Anna, John Lawerence, Carl H., Jacob Veslie (my son's gg grandfather), Lizzie K., and Philip Louis. Anna Maria died Nov 5, 1875. In 1883 Casper married Greta Marie Berends who had seven children of her own. Shortly after this marriage Casper and Greta took their children and traveled by wagon from Illinois to the homestead near Alta Vista, Wabaunsee Co., Kansas. Jacob did not make this trip. Instead he stayed behind and lived with his grandparents till the age of 21. Jacob then traveled to Waco, York Co., Nebraska to live and farm with a brother. Here Jacob met his wife Marie Anna daughter of Frederick Augusta (August) and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Miltner. Jacob and Marie had the following issue; Irvin, Luella, Roy Casper, Lydia Elizabeth, Milden Wesley, and Myrtle Louise. At the age of 24 Jacob and Marie moved to Kansas a short distance from his father. Here they all stayed to this date.
