Robert and Magdalene were charter members of Scaffold Lick Baptist and was
formed at home of Robert's brother and sister-in-laaw Valentine amd Mary
Chastain, Scott County, Indiana,, 14 October 1818. First existing record book
of church bears inscription in front of book "Robert Chastain and _______
Chastain paid 50 cents for this book and gave it to the church 20 September
1823."
