Notes for Eli Gerrard
Eli left Garards Fort in southwestern PA in 1774 with James Harrod and others
for Ky. In 1777, Eli and a party of about 36 men went to Capt. Joseph Bowman's
plantation for corn and were attacked by Indians while there. Eli was killed
in this Skirmish. He was shot in the middle of his forehead and was badly
powder burned. He was found in the hole with the Indian he had killed.
Eli was one of the original settlers of Harrodsburg, KY, 16 Jun 1774 and
served in the Regiment of Col. George Rogers Clark.
