Samuel Bridgewater
Samuel entered the service of the American Revolution in Virginia as a private in the year 1776 for three months in Captain Zodak Springer's Company of Militia and was discharged at the end of his enlistment having been employed against the Tories and in guarding the frontiers. In 1777 he served another three months in Captain Thomas Carr's Company. In 1778 he served a tour under Captain Moses Sutton and another three months in 1779 under Captain Sutton guarding the prisoners of Beeson's Town and scouting between there and the Monongahela River. His last service was in the expedition of Colonel William Crawford against the Indians on the Western Front. Pension Papers #9371(Samuel).
Samuel, Mary Ann and family by being settlers living farthest North of Pigeon Roost escaped the massacre. However they moved back to New Bardstown, Kentucky and did not return to Indiana until the Indian Wars were over.
