Stories of the Town That Almost Was
Ford, Kansas was the home area of the Isom Dawson families from about 1904. It also was the home area of some of the sons of Alva Karns, including Elmer and his wife Verna, one of Isom's daughters. Verna kept a scrapbook of family and community memorabilia, and a series of three articles about attempts to establish a town near Ford was among them.
Take a look at the story of Ryansville, the town that almost was. The story is told by Heine Schmidt in The High Plains Journal, published in Dodge City, Kansas in July of 1954.
