Daniel Stillwell, 1812-1852, and his descendants

1820 Daniel Stilwell household, Staunton Twp., Miami Co., OH 1820 census

1 male age 25-44 (b 1776 to 1795) [May be Daniel son of Elias and bro. of Joseph]

1 female age 16-26 (b 1794 to 1804) [May be wife of Daniel]

NOTE: We are working under the premise that this Daniel, whom we call Daniel (1), was the son of Elias Stillwell, who emigrated from New Jersey to Ohio, and his wife Elnor Heaverland. We hold, until evidence proves us wrong, that this Daniel was the father of “our” Daniel Stillwell, who was born 27 Oct 1812 in New Jersey, married Beulah Ann _____, and was the father of six children. Two of them died early, and the other four are included in this overview of census records. In this view of two Daniels, we are following the thought of Raymond J. Stillwell, (Descendants of Captain Nicholas Stillwell, Son of Lieutenant Nicholas Stillwell, Privately Printed, 2000, Vol. 2, Part 2, pages 213-229).

1830 NOTE: Neither Daniel is listed in Miami Co. in this census, although Elias and Joseph are.

    3 females age 0-4 b 1836 to 1840 [prob. Susannah B., Mary Ann, & Hannah Jane]

NOTE: No surnames known to be associated with the family were close to them in the census list.

[or A], 5; John H, 1. The Yagers and Stillwells had several interactions, including dealing with the land after Daniel’s death.

NOTE: Beulah Ann was living in Darke Co. after Daniel's death in 1852. They had been in Miami Co. in 1850. William grew up to become the father of Harry Mote Stillwell, father of Bonnie Gladys Stillwell, mother of Forrest Ladd, Jr.
