Hi,
Great website!! Kay Coggin put
me onto it.. My name is Mell Grove (son of A.G. and Nettie Grove).
He was the Personnel Director for Bibb from the early 40's until he
retired in the 60's. We lived at 28 North Broad St (next to
Doctor Mitchell) and the memories are flooding now!!
I grew up with Billy Shaw, Bob
Mitchell and the gang! I left Porterdale in 1962 to join the Air
Force (did a tour in Vietnam, 1965) and now live in Columbia, SC as
a 7th grade geography teacher!! Not one of my teachers would
ever believe that!!!!!

My older brother George graduated
around 1956 or 1957.
The baseball games, softball games
and all the times of the summer in Porterdale was an awesome time.
Really glad to get the website and
will be a regular visitor.
My mom, Nettie
Grove, was a member for years around the same time Lucile Shaw.
I believe she was President of the Club for a period of time..
