Subject: A true life story from the Old Porterdale

Hello,
Well to start with, My family's The Mooneys , Prices, and  Waldens has been around Porterdale, Ga  I guess since it started. My GGrandfather and GGrandMother,
John H. Mooney and Mary Jane Mckenny Mooney worked in that Old Mill. I guess all of my kin has worked there at one time or another. One of my Grandfathers Berted Hugh Campbell Price, Worked there , He actually went totally blind but continued working, He walked to and from work and ran the winders and spinners, Not being able to see a thing. I can name a list of people that worked there,( my family). My Father and his brothers and sisters where all born there in Porterdale.
The Old house is still there at 13 Broad St. My Momma was at one time the mill Nurse in the clinic, Witch was across the street in the alley by the old Porterdale Gym. Some of us old Porterdale River Rats, Learned to swim right there and the bridge. We were droped off one side and was cought before we got to the damn.
I can still hear my daddy saying come on swim or drown. If you would like to know more, Please let me know. I do have some old pictures I will get them out and sent them to you, If you would like?

                                                                                 Thanks for the stroll
                                                                                  back in time.
                                                                                  George Mooney
