Who Am I

Obituaries

Dear Sir,
I was just viewing your web site and it said that you were looking for information: Well I have some and I don't, my Mother use to live in Porterdale, Georgia back in the late twenties., she was married to George Malone  Campbell and her name was Gertrude S Campbell and they had a son George Henry Campbell. I think her Dad Burl Crowe lived with them also. Burl Crowe was married to Bessie Henry Crowe and they had four Daughters , Gertrude, Gladys, Eva  and Pearl. I have been told that some of them worked in the Mill at Porterdale. My Aunt Pearl told my Nephew David Campbell that Burl Crowe had loaded up the family in 1929 and headed for Central, South Carolina in a 1929 Model A Ford Truck. I have never seen my Grandfather Burl Crowe , not even a picture of him. I'm sure that he and all his Daughters are deceased by now, My Mother Gertrude S Evatt died in 2001 at 93 years old, I know that my Aunt Pearl is Deceased, I never have seen my two other Aunts, I heard that Gladys moved to Florida and Eva move to Michigan. Our family was never close and I really never knew very few of my relatives. me  and my Daughter Teresa who lives in Biloxi, Miss. are trying to put together a Family Ancestry and try to find out a little more about my Mothers Family.
You may not be able to help me on this matter, but I would really appreciate it if you are able to help My Mother was born May 10,1908 in Newnan, Georgia by  the name of Gertrude Sarah Crowe, She had a son George Henry Campbell born in Porterdale, Georgia on the 14th of May 1923. George is also Deceased,  he left five fine boys and a wife in Greenville, South Carolina.  This has always been a real good Family in my opinion and I Cannot figure out why the Family were so distant to one another.
I left in June 1956 to go in the US Air Force and I was away from everyone, I was stationed in Great Falls, Montana for five years and back then that was a long way from home, I remember the first time I came home on leave driving a vehicle, it took me five days and five nights to get home, back then there were no Interstates to help speed up, it was a long trip. I am now Retired from The US Air Force and live in Warner Robins, Georgia. I've been here since 1968 when I came back from Vietnam.
Thanks again for  reading  this message and I have Faith that you will be able to help me a little bit.   Have a nice day and Godspeed
