This is the only Hanson family in the area, and they had only three sons. Of these, Horace, b. 1838, eas presumably father of the Estilla, b. 1862, appearing with him and his parents in 1880. Horace was a widower at the time of his 1885 death, while Estella would appear to be the Stilla Hanson, daughter (sic) named in the estate papers of her grandfather. (An alternative reconstruction would be possible if Estilla was daughter of another of John and Elizabeth's children, for example an illegitimate child of a daughter, and hence in the eyes of the law a daughter of John himself, as appears in the estate papers, then the daughter of Horace named in his obituary must be Elizabeth.) Charles, b. 1841, was still unmarried in 1870. (He also predeceased his father, apparently without surviving issue.) George is listed with his father in 1870, and again in 1880 was living alone, but he was married. Thus, it would seem he is the likely candidate for the non-cohabitational spouse of Viola CLARK. Viola was living with her parents in 1870, and was a servant in 1880. George HANSON died 3 Aug. 1890.
