The following two families appear to have immigrated in sequence, with Litzelswope preceding Baumgartner by several years. Their place of origin was in and around the town of Adelhausen, near Lörrach, Baden. They settled in what would become Sullivan Co., Pennsylvania, where descendants still live.

Joseph Baumgartner, was born 19 May 1799, Neider-Eichsel, Baden, son of Wendelin and Magdalena (Brugger) Baumgartner. Emigrating 27 Oct. 1832, he settled in Cherry Twp., where he was a farmer. His will, which was written in German and left everything to his wife, is dated 11 Feb. 1850. He died 16 Feb. 1851. He had married at Eichsel, Baden, 17 Apr. 1820 Mary Ursula Kani, born 4 Oct. 1803, daughter of Anton and Ursula (Weber) Kani. She was still living in 1870.

George (Ignatz) Baumgardner, b. 26 Jan. 1821, Neider-Eichsel, he was a farmer, but enlisted in Co. G, 141st Regiment, Pa Volunteers, and was killed at the Battle of Chancellorsville. Married, ca. 1850, to his cousin Susannah Litzelswope, b. 30 Sep. 1822, Pa. he d. 29 Dec. 1905.
