I just finished reading Maryland Archives documents from Prerogative Court (Accounts), which I sent for in order to double check the abstract in the above Family Line book, and I came up with a surprise that wasn't in the abstract. In the account of Mary Davis, administratrix of Briscoe Davis (volume 43 p. 355), the sureties, as we already knew from the abstract, were Philip Wood and George Burroughs, but what I didn't know was that both sureties were from St. Mary's County! But my Philip Wood wasn't from St. Mary's in 1759. This leads me, even more, to think that there were two Philip Wood's in 1760 in SW Maryland.

Bond. Oct 2, 1781. Williamson King and Thomas Ching give 50,000 lbs tobacco bond to Philip Wood to warrant that King will allow Philip King and Mary, his wife, the use of Rebecca during their natural lives. Witmesses - J. Parnham, Ann Parnham.
**Wa - Wood, Philip 1789 - sells slave etc to Williamson King Charles Co Deed Book D4 p. 537: Philip Wood, in 1781, conveyed slave Rebecca to Williamson King. But in 1784, Wood was indebted to Francis Hamersly as executor of Elizabeth Pile, deceased, for unpaid rent of 12,012 lbs tobacco. Rebecca, being at Wood's, was seized for the back rent, since he did not have 12.012 lbs tobacco worth of property. Wood, to repay King for the loss of Rebecca, and for 5 £ to Wood paid by King, King grants to Wood a Negro boy named Joseph, 6 cattle, and 4 feather beds and furniture.

(Note that in 1770, King sold a slave named Becky to James Briscoe. If same Becky, suggests that James Briscoe was a relative of Philip Wood)

Nathaniel Harris was in Montgomery Co, MD, then Culpeper County, VA, then Nelson/Bullitt Co, KY. So, I hoped to find a marriage for Henry in one of those counties. No luck. Henry is not found in Culpeper County Marriages, 1780-1853 by John Vogt and T. **Wab - Wood, Henry 1796 - 1798 Charles Co - bought animal June Term, 1798, Charles Co, MD, Orphan's Court Proceedings, p. 322. Account, sales of part of the estate of William Waters, late of Charles Co. Henry Wood bought farm animal(s); Leonard Wood bought old chairs. Report dated Jun 1, 1798, but the actual date of the estate sale is not given. William Waters' inventory account was dated Nov 30, 1796. So, the estate sale could have taken place between 1796 and 1798. I would place it in 1796 since Henry was living out of state by the time of the 1796 Nelson Co tax list, and why buy a farm animal if you're a non-resident?

**Wab - Wood, Henry 1798 or earlier - Charles Co debt Charles Co, Orphan's Court Proceedings. Feb, 1800, p. 54. A list of desperate debts due Mary Moran, late of Charles County, deceased. Includes Henry Wood for 7 sh 6 pence. I do not recognize the other names on the list. (Other debtors were Thomas B Smoot, Benj Hunt, Ignatius Cahoe, Philemon Estep)..
Mary Moran's inventory was Aug 4, 1798, so the only thing we can say about the debt was that it occured prior to Aug 4, 1798.
Desperate means hopeless, and I would guess this debt was hopeless to be recovered by 1800 because Henry was already out of state.
