Monday, Oct 4

Cleaned up the house & did usual work. Quite cold out. ?? [Ink spot blocks out the word] feeling better. ?? on C. E. Work ?? all afternoon. ?? two papers ready to send in. Went to meet Bussy at 4:00. Got rides with Fat Davis & Mountains. Nice out. Listened to radio & went to sleep on cot at nite. To bed early! Mom in bed most of day. We kids did work Dad & Buzz took dinners.

 

Tuesday, Oct 5

Did up work & then did a great big washing. ?? [Ink blot] not home to dinner. Listened to World Series! Worked ?? C. E. work. At nite to Bk. Nite with Leo. Jane Withers in “Little Miss Nobody.” Surely was good! Sat with Jean. Got a loaf of bread & were home by 9:30.

Wednesday, Oct 6

Real cold in morning again. Did up work & got dinner. Had fried chicken. Ironed after dinner. Went to town at 4:00. Leo & I. Got new sweater & lots of little stuff. At nite we 4 kids went to free show “Uncle Dudley.” I was with Jean & Dorothy. Home about 11:00. Had to wait for second show.

Thursday, Oct 7

Real cold in morning. Warmed up by noon. Did a little of my washing in morning. Had oven dinner. Leo didn't feel extra good in pm. Went in to Dr. Mom & Leo & I. Got some pills. I curled my hair. At nite D. Thomas, Jean J., Bertha R., Wes & I went to choir practice & then to Octette practice at Middleton's. I had my car.

 

Friday, Oct 8

Rainy out but not so cold. Cleaned upstairs. Mom made lemon pies. Rasmus came & took Howard home after dinner. Pete & Max came & we went to ball game with Manilla. Real dull so we left during half & went to Carroll to Battle of Music. “Indians,” “ Chesterfields ,” & Palmquist.” Swell time. Danced every 3 with Pete. Saw Swede – tighter than the dickens. Helen drove home. 2:00.

Saturday, Oct 9

Uusal work. Slept late. Scrubbed floors & cleaned whole house. To town in pm. Saw [shorthand notation: later added that the word was: Maytag] man about job. Got groceries. Went to bed early. 10:00.

 

Sunday, Oct 10

Went to church. Sang in choir. Washed my hair. Dad at Jno. Hooker's. Did 7 typing drills & some shorthand. Pete came at nite. Were going to show but we found Don & Norma. Went to café & ate & cut out paper dolls. Sat in Don's car & listened to radio & ate pop corn. Ollie Betts road.
