Eileen's boyfriend of several years is at college in Mt. Pleasant

 

Eileen's father, Paul, had been Cashier at the bank for many years, and served as Town Treasurer for many years.

Dick Sorensen was was an older first cousin, 29, married, son on Dorothy's brother, Morris Sorensen. He probably still lived in Des Moines, at this time, but moved to California later on.

Vocal music contest in Creston.

Lyle about Leo's age, Ila Jean about Eileen's age - Kinnick 1st cousins.

Monday, March 30

Cold. At nite Bussy went to “Littlest Rebel.” Town election. Dad elected treasurer. Listened to Lux Theater Bette Davis “Lion & Mouse.” – Real good. Went up after Bussy.

Tuesday, March 31

Dick Sorensen here at nite. Had sextette practice at school at nite. Snowed at nite.

 

Wednesday, April 1

Amateur contest. I stayed home and got ready to go to Creston. New socks, etc.

 

Thursday, April 2

Still cold. Sun came out. Thawed. Warmer in pm. Quartette practice at noon. Didn't got to school in pm. Left for Creston at 4:30. Rich's, Dale, Keith, Dorothy and I. Sang at nite. Got excellent. No superiors given. Surely sleepy and disappointed. All slept at same house 507 – Howard Street .

 

Friday, April 3

At Creston. Saw Zook and Muriel – Bertha got Superiors. At nite went to “She Married her boss.” Leo home. New V-8.

Saturday, April 4

Mom sick in bed. Nice out. I did all work. Kitchen table broke. Lyle and Ila Jean here awhile in morning. At nite Leo with Ida. Bussy to sleep. Dad to the bank and I was here alone. Read “Forgive us our Trespasses.” Listened to Lucky Strike. “goody-goody”

Sunday, April 5

Went to church. To Gertrude's for dinner. Had the best dinner and swellest salad. Mrs. Brideson there. Nite to League and "Professional Soldier" with Prissy. Surely good.
