Sam and Evelyn Marshall Family
Front Left - Stewart Marshall - Killed in an automobile accident on February 14, 1975 behind Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. He was 18 year old.
Front Right - Natalie Marshall, Stewart's sister, Donald and Sue's children.
Behind them - John Marshall, Vickie Sue Lewis Marshall, Donald Marshall. Sue died of a stroke on December 12, 1982. She and Steward are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Sumter, South Carolina.

The Wedding of John Henry Welborne Wolfe and Mary (Mammie) Marshall

This wedding took place in Mt. Airy, North Carolina on June 8, 1910 (Wednesday). The people in the picture are:

This is my brother, Donald, holding me in his lap on Gaul Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was about July or August, 1942.

Martin Marshall's Gravestone
This cemetery is six miles north of Winston Salem in Stokes County, North Carolina. Drive up Baux Mountain Road until you reach Dusty Trail on the right. Go down Dusty Trail until you come to the end of the road. The cemetery is about 100 yards further on in the woods.

In the family picture, I think that I have the people identified. In the back from left to right Bessie.....Carlos......Lebert
front from left to right Ralph.....John Ernest.....Merle...Addie...Mamie Merle died at an early age,as close as I can figure, it wasn't too many years after this picture was taken. I'm in contact with Marvin Marshall,Ralph's son and he agrees with me on the I.D. of the picture.

William Causley "Bruz" Marshall Born 2-12-1861; Died 11-11-1942. Pictured with his sons by his first wife Nettie Mabry taken about 1897. The sons are James Oscar Marshall, born 23-9-1890; died 4-6-1966. James married Mahalia Ann Puckett. The second son is Tommy, born about 1894; died about 1915. He died of TB.

John W. Marshall b. 9 Apr 1859 in Forsyth County, North Carolina, died 9 Jul 1930 in Kernersville, North Carolina. He is the son of Samuel Marshall and Elizabeth Watson. He married Jemima Josephine Hopkins, b. 22 Sept 1858, d. 23 Jan 1929 in Kernersville. I have only one of their children recorded. That is Bertha Maybel Marshall whom you see to the right.

This young beauty is Bertha Maybel Marshall Born 23 Aug 1890; died 26 Jun 1969 in Kernersville, North Carolina. She was the only child of John W. Marshall and Jemima Josephine Hopkins. Noteworthy is that she must not have liked that since she and Arthur Ballard had 10 children. John & Bertha Marshall's homeplace is still on N. Main Street in Kernersville, Forsyth County, N. C. May Leona Ballard b. 1913 their 3rd child still lives there and their 10th child Kay Francis lives next door. John Ballard, who sent me this picture also sent me the picture of the "home place" to the right that he took while he was at the reunion this summer (1999) in Dobson, NC.

Garland Calvin Marshall's Family - (This information came from Cathy James) Seated in front are my great grandparents: Garland Calvin & Sophrony Hutchens Marshall. Behind are (I'm sorry---wish I knew the order, but don't!): Richard, Dayton, Anna, Unia, Dora & my grandfather, Frank Elliott (I do know that he's the one on the far right!). This was a Repro dated June 1962. On the back of the picture is stated: year 1910. Hope you can use. Maybe some of my cousins can fill in. Are any of Howard Marshall's children or grandchildren online. Any of my Marshall half-siblings or their kids online (we're geographically seperated and I don't hear from or about them except through my mother--also we didn't grow up together). I'd love to be able to e-mail them.
