There is some question if Joseph is the son of Josiah. Edith McCleery's letter states that Rosa Baisden Peterson always said that she, Rosa, had to two brothers. When Mary Dunham Baisden and Josiah Baisden died in 1839 and 1838 only one son was living, Josiah. The decendants of Josiah Jr. do not believe that there was a second son.
If Edith was correct and a second son of Mary and Josiah exists, Joseph Baisden husband of Sarah M. Dunham is the likely person.

According to the estate papers for Mathias or Matthews Mickler, he had no children of his body. The estate was divided between his wife Sarah Ann Baisden; some of his siblings: Lawrence Mickler, Elizabeth Mickler Martin and Caroline Mickler Tompkins; and the four boys Sarah and Mathias raised -- William J. Mickler, J. Hopkins Mickler, J. Bartley Mickler, and Thomas M. Mickler. The boys split a single share of the estate. Since the estate was split between the wife and siblings, the boys were probably the children of a brother of Mathias.
