Bethel-Rhome

Bethel Cemetery (there are three in the county) is located just north of Rhome. From Hwy 287 turn east on Pioneer Rd. In about 2 miles you’ll see the cemetery on the left.

In September 2001 we found 11 headstones. There was some tall grass but no brush in the fenced area. Several piles of rocks covered graves with missing headstones. The headstone basses were still there. A listing of the cemetery done in the 1960’s showed 2 headstones that we did not find. They are indicated with brackets [ ] in the table below.

We numbered the headstones as we came to them from the gate on the south. They are listed below in alphabetical order.

Isbell Cemetery

Isbell Cemetery is located north of Rhome in a new housing development.

From Hwy 287 just north of Rhome turn right on Pioneer Rd. After about a mile turn right on Zion Rd and then left on Gladness Rd. Turn right on Joy Rd and the cemetery is on the left between the second and third houses. It’s on the hill between, and just behind, the houses.

A pipe fence was being built around it when we were there.

In September 2001 we found one headstone and one footstone with the initials J.B.J. on it.

The engraving on the headstone was as follows:
