Mount Cemetery

Mount Cemetery is on the north edge of Chico. Go north out of town on Mount Street or CR 1550 and you will see the sign and the cemetery just off the road on the west.

At the time of my survey in Septermber of 2000 there were 30 headstones.

At the grave of Robert C. Mount in the northwest corner of the cemetery was a marker that read:

Robert Calvin Mount
(June 25, 1826 – Feb 22, 1897)

Born in Tennessee. Came to Texas 1855 and was elected first assessor-collector of taxes, Wise County 1856. A first lieutenant, Blythe’s militia in Civil War. Built fort-like rock home near Chico, 1874. An outstanding pioneer of Wise County.
