Funeral for Gabriela Hachtel, 42, of Newark will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 24,
at Coker Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Dan
Hunt will officiate.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the funeral home.
Hachtel died Sunday, June 19, 2005, in Decatur.
Born Aug. 13, 1962, in Augsburg, Germany, she was a homemaker. She married James
David Hachtel on March 25, 1988, in Boyd.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Douglas Foxworth.
She is survived by her husband; her mother, Seiglinde Bumair of Augsburg; two
sons, Andreas Bumair and Jimmy Hachtel, both of Newark; and two brothers, Thomas
Bumair and Michael Bumair, both of Augsburg.

Hachtel, Mary Francis

Funeral for Mary Francis Hachtel, 85, of Sanger was Feb. 27 at the First Baptist
Church in Sanger. E.L. McNeal officiated. Burial followed at Sanger Cemetery.
Hachtel died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, in Denton.
Born March 13, 1919, to Jim and Pearl (Cowart) Ready in Sanger, she married
Marvin Weldon Hachtel on Oct. 17, 1942. She worked for the United States Postal
Service in Sanger for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Ethelyn Amyx; and two
brothers, Bobby J. Ready and Richard Ready.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Rippey and Carol Knightstep, both of
Sanger; a sister, Peggy Crunk of Ivanhoe; a brother, James Ready of Sanger;
three grandchildren, Donny Knightstep, Bill Jon Rippey and Jona Gillum and seven
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Willie Keith Pate, Johnny Forrest, Bill Crunk, Kyle Amyx, Billy
Ed Nance and Jim Rob Ready.

Hale, Benjamin Franklin, Jr.

Services were held for Benjamin Franklin Hale Jr., 84, of Bowie, Thursday, March
31 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Charles Taylor and Louis Horton officiated.
Burial followed in Sweetwater Cemetery.
He was born October 27, 1920, in Wise County, to Benjamin F. Sr. and Ella Hudson
Hale. He died March 28, 2005, in Bowie.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Louella Bowling; daughter-in-law Shirley
Hale; and his first wife, Mattie Viola Fennell.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Russell of Bowie; three sons, Ben Hale of
Bridgeport, Johnny Hale and wife, Kim, of Decatur, and Danny Hale and wife,
Kristie, of Bowie; daughters, Shirley Donley and husband, David, of Bowie, and
Faye Wilson and husband, Jimmy, of Mineral Wells; brothers, Joe Cody Hale and
Lee Roy Hale of Decatur, Pete Hale of Denton, and James Marco Hale of Henrietta;
sisters, Jane Cearley of Decatur, Inez Rodgers of Fort Worth, Joyce Horton of
Fort Worth, Lois Davidson of Lindale and Pat Spoede of Denison; nine
grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Hale, Robert Elmer
1938-2005
Funeral for Robert E. Hale, 67, of Decatur was Aug. 15 in Decatur. Burial
followed at Bethel Cemetery.
Hale died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, in Decatur.
Born July 15, 1938, in Decatur to Harry and Pearl Brock Hale, he lived in
Decatur until he joined the military in 1957. He retired from the Army as a
staff sergeant in 1977 at Fort Bliss in El Paso.
After his military service, he drove trucks cross-country for 18 years. He was
awarded safe driving records for 500,000 miles for Hospital Supply and one
million miles for Baxter-Converters Bulk Mail Service. In 1995, he returned to
Decatur after a medical retirement.
He is preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Rutherford and Harry Lee Walker;
his first wife, Mary Curtis; three nephews, Odas Lee, Ronnie Walker and Lonnie
Walker; and three brothers-in-law, J.C. Dawson, Odas Jr. Walker and Norman Hoak.
He is survived by his wife, OkSon Hale; a son, Robert Hale Jr.; a daughter,
Pamela Brambilla and husband, Lazandro, of El Paso; a granddaughter, Autumn
Brambilla of El Paso; a stepson, John W. Curtis of New Mexico; a brother, Fred
Alan Hale of El Paso; two sisters, Willa Mae Dawson of Decatur and Leona Tyler
of Fort Worth; and two brothers in law, James Rutherford and LeeRoy Tyler.

Halford, Robert L., Jr.
1929-2005
Funeral for Robert L. Halford Jr., 76, of Bishop and formerly of Wise County was
to be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Alvord Church of Christ. A memorial
service was held Thursday, Oct. 20, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville.
Halford died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, in Bishop.
Born April 3, 1929, in Seymour, to Robert Lee Halford and Myrtle Thomas Halford,
he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of
sergeant under combat conditions. He graduated with a degree in ag science from
Texas Tech in 1958. He married Jeannette Holland in 1959, and she preceded him
in death in 1976. He married Donna Allard Perrault in 1977.
He graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1981 with a master’s degree in
education and later served as principal at Alvord. He was a minister at Sunset,
Crafton, Greenwood, Alvord, Forestburg and Bishop Churches of Christ.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Adam and James; two brothers, Charles and
J.D. Halford and one sister, Mary Halford Fain.
He is survived by three children, Cindy Jeter and husband, Larry, of Chantilly,
Va., Becky Stephens and husband, Russell, of Decatur and Stephen Halford and
wife, Stefanie, of Southaven, Miss.; four step-children, Barry Perrault and
wife, Lesa, of Humble, Tom Perrault and wife, Cheryl, of Richmond, Va., Kendra
Perrault Nash and husband, John, of Missouri City and Elaine Perrault Murrell
and husband, Brian, of London, England; 10 grandchildren; eight
step-grandchildren; five sisters, Lois Nikirk and husband, Roy, of Corpus
Christi, Jolu Rupel and husband, Gene, of Joshua Tree, Calif., Wilma House of
Aledo and Opal Morton and husband, Dick, and Sharon Walker, all of Fort Worth,
and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made in his name to the American Cancer
Society, the Bishop Church of Christ or the Disabled American Veterans.

Graveside service for Woodie Frank Hancock, 82, of Vancouver, Wash., was Friday,
Dec. 16, in Alvord. Joe Hancock officiated.
Hancock died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, in Vancouver.
He was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Alvord.
He was preceded in death by a son, Teddy Hancock.
He is survived by his wife, Marge; two sons, Timothy Hancock of Cartersville,
Ga., and Messel Hancock of Gresham, Ore.; a daughter, Donna Langford of
Oklahoma; a brother, Wade Hancock of Texarkana; a sister, Lawanna McClure of
Decatur; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Hand, Leroy
1922-2005
Funeral for Leroy Hand, 82, of Chico was June 7 at First Baptist Church of
Chico. The Rev. Jason Ewing officiated. Burial followed at Chico Cemetery.
Hand died Saturday, June 4, 2005, in Chico.
Born Oct. 12, 1922, in Electra to George W. Sr. and Edna Brown Hand, he was a
retired welder. A lifetime resident of Chico, he married Patsy Jennings on Dec.
18, 1954, in Bridgeport. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during
World War II, was a member of the 1276 Combat Engineers Association and the
First Baptist Church of Chico.
He was preceded in death by a brother, G.W. Hand.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Mickey Hand and wife, Lindee, of Chico,
Tim Hand and wife, Debbie, of Decatur, and Rusty Hand and wife, Gaile, of Chico;
eight grandchildren, Amy Silletti, Brent Hand, Jill Martin, Brian Hand, Aaron
Hand, Breann Hand, Ashton Hand and Asa Hand; six great-grandchildren, Marcus,
Christian, Kambree, Camden, Abby and Reece; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Hand of
Chico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
An honor guard from Fort Hood will conduct a flag presentation at the graveside.
Pallbearers were Brent Hand, Brian Hand, Aaron Hand, Asa Hand, Anthony Silletti
and Scott Martin. Honorary pallbearers were men from Hand’s Bible study Sunday
school class.

Funeral for Leona Irene Hardee, 89, of Alvord was July 1 at the First Baptist
Church of Alvord.
Hardee died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, in Alvord.
Born Oct. 19, 1915, to Liza Ozella Collins and George Earnest Raley in the West
Academy community near Chico, she was a homemaker and a member of the First
Baptist Church of Alvord. She attended school in the West Academy community and
graduated from Chico High School in 1935. She married Joe Burl Hardee on March
7, 1944, in Decatur. They moved to Alvord in 1945.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and four sisters, Loy Knight, Lessie
Robertson, Sue Nivens and Allison Raley.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Elsmere and husband, Edward; two sons,
Larry Hardee and wife, Ruthann, Vernon Hardee and wife, Karen, all of Alvord;
eight grandchildren, Randy Hardee and wife, Gwen, Ricky Hardee and wife,
Michelle, Lenny Hardee, Jamie Hicks and husband, Jesse, and Meredith Elsmere,
all of Alvord, Jennifer Dunn and husband, Brandon, of Bridgeport, and Mike
Hardee and Sherry Gibson, both of Midwest City, Okla.; and seven
great-grandchildren.

Funeral for Lona Maye (Babcock) Harrison, 72, of Gainesville was to be at 10
a.m. Saturday, May 28, at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville. The Revs.
Mark Lowen and Mark Fuller were to officiate. Burial was to follow at Fairview
Cemetery.
Harrison died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, in Gainesville.
Born Nov. 16, 1932, in New Boston to Edward W. and Alma Mae (Jeffries) Babcock,
she married Kenneth Warren Harrison Nov. 22, 1947, in Wellington. She was a
member of the First Baptist Church, manager for the Edison School cafeteria for
32 years and a cook at Gainesville High School for many years. She was a
homemaker and enjoyed gardening and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Francis Wilson, Katie
Carver and Sydney Golden and three brothers, Pat, John Earl and Wesley Babcock.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Edward and Jan (Robison)
Harrison of Decatur; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Cross and husband, Dan, of
Huntsville and Jeanne Karen Bruner of Mineola; eight grandchildren, Kenneth
Douglas Harrison of New Haven, Conn., Bradley Earl Harrison of College Station,
Kenna Marie Musgrove and husband, Shane, of Tomball, Martin David Stroble and
wife, Stephanie, and Hans Harrison Stroble, both of Houston, Melissa Jane Baxley

Harry died Sunday, May 15, in Fort Worth.
Born May 5, 1940, in Ackerly, he married Dorothy Mae Williams Aug. 25, 1962, in
Ackerly. He served as a deacon in various Baptist churches for 35 years and was
a red coat salesman for the Origill Company. He graduated from Ackerly High
School and attended Texas Tech, Howard College and Draughns Business College.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Steve Harry of McKinney; a brother, Alvis
Kenneth Harry of North Richland Hills; and two grandsons, Zach and Indy Harry of
McKinney.

Born Feb. 9, 1943, in Fort Worth, he was a truck driver and a member of the
Assembly of God Church.
He married Lovedia Ford on March 5, 1998, in Sunset.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Robin Quillin and Sheryl Powers, both
of Fort Worth; a brother, Randy Hart of North Richland Hills; and four
grandchildren.

Hawkins died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in Decatur.
Born March 10, 1925, in Graford, she was a retired beautician. She was a member
of the Pleasant View Baptist church and married Raymond C. “Bud” Hawkins in
Bridgeport in September 1970.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Shirley Payne Pilcher and husband,
Ned, of Austin; two grandchildren, Nicole and Darrin Payne; a great-grandson,
Gavin Jett Payne; a brother, Lawrence Jenkins of Mineral Wells; a step-son, Rick
Hawkins of Weslaco and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Clayton Green, Gary Green, Darrin Payne, Grady Cowling, Alan
Green and Lance Morrow.

Hawkins, Lavonia

Funeral for Lavonia Hawkins, 98, of Chico was Dec. 13, at the First Baptist
Church of Chico. The Rev. Adam Hughes officiated. Burial followed at Chico
Cemetery.
Hawkins died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, in Decatur.
Born Dec. 7, 1907, in Rock Springs to James and Ethel Smith Heath, she was a
retired first grade teacher for Chico ISD. She received her bachelor’s and
master’s degrees from the University of North Texas. She moved to Chico in
1947 where she taught first grade for 35 years.
Hawkins was a member of the Study Club and was president when the club started
the library in Chico. She was involved in the renovation of the Brown Hotel for
a civic center. She was also a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of
Chico where she taught the girls’ Sunday School class for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.F. Hawkins, in 1965.
She is survived by three nephews, Bernard Booth of Tampa, Fla., Lon Johnston of
Dallas and George Johnston of Farmington, N.M.; two nieces, Judy Richman of
Tampa, Fla., and Betty File of Antham, Ariz. and four cousins, Bea Easley and
Melton Teague, both of Dallas, Vanice Clark of Longmont, Colo., and June Slagle
of Corrales, N.M.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Buckner, G.A. Buckner, Nobie Tucker, Larry Mader Sr.,
Jesse Wilkins and Eugene Grooms.

Born April 7, 1925, in Bridgeport, he was a retired electrician with Southwest
Stone Company in Chico. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a
member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a former president of the local
AFLCIO.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Hawkins in January 2005, and a
sister, Christine Liles.
He is survived by a son, Rick Hawkins and wife, Irma, of Weslaco; a daughter,
Shirley Payne Pilcher and husband, Ned, of Austin; four grandchildren, Ronnye
Hawkins, Priscilla Hawkins, Nicole Payne and Darrin Payne; a great-grandson,

Born March 9, 1933, in Edison, Ohio, to Melton and Lula Fissel Heimlich, he
married Laura Ruth Latta on June 10, 1972, in Elgin. He was a cabinet maker for
Dallas Heimlich Custom Cabinets and was a veteran of the Army and served in the
Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Dallas Heimlich and a grandson, Shane
Heimlich.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Darren Heimlich and wife, Carol, of
Crowley, Kenneth Lackey and wife, Debra, of Bridgeport, Chris Lackey and wife,
Denise, of Elgin, and Lonnie Lackey and wife, Katrina, of Bridgeport; four

and Jody Alexander; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sherman Dean Hendricks

Cottondale.

Henson; and three sisters, Ophelia Reed, Oree Ashley and Tula Mae Henson.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Toy J. Henson and wife, Caroline of

He was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Chico, to Arthur Leroy and Josephine Chipman
Herriott. Herriott served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and in
1947 married Josephine Bridges. A graduate of North Texas State College, he
reitred from E Systems Garland in 1991 after 41 years in aerospace engineering.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Herriott; two sons, Carroll Frank Herriott
and wife, Lise, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Donald Bridges Herriott and wife,
Sue, of Lewisville; a daughter, Martha Carmichael and husband, Bob, of Plano; a
sister, Laverne Butler, of San Antonio; and four grandchildren, James Lee,
Arthur Frank, Christina Elaine and Carl Frank.

aircraft factory throughout World War II and the Korean Conflict years. Then she
worked through the mid-1960s for Lorch Company in Decatur and Bridgeport. She
managed Eagle Nest Apartments from 1974 to 1986 until she retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1958; four younger sisters, Juanita
Cooley, Eugenia McGraw, Virginia Faulkner and Helen Cunningham; and a niece,
Linda Maddux.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Frances Brady and Nancy Jane Hoyl, both of
Decatur; four grandchildren, Chris Howard of Chicago, Ill., Sally Santimaw of
Charlotte, N.C., Tracy Howard of Keytesville, Mo., and Wendy Divita of
Singapore; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Boyd and the Rebeccah Lodge No. 460 in Azle. She was a Worthy Matron.

Magers Jr.

Methodist Church where he was church pianist. He served six years on the city
council and was a member of the Chico Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a
member of the Fort Worth Masonic Lodge and the Chico Masonic Lodge No. 508 where
he was past worshipful master and second-degree Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Nathaniel Ross Lasiter; a daughter, Carlie
Rachelle Lasiter; a granddaughter, Iris Townes Lasiter; his mother, Dorothy
Lasiter DoByns and husband, Cecil; three stepbrothers, Robert DoByns, Ernie
DoByns and Clark DoByns; and two stepsisters, Carol Mann and Martha Howard.

Decatur.

of the Community Baptist Church in Decatur and the Decatur Woman’s Club.
She married Troy Lutenbaker June 3, 1960, in Bridgeport.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Tammy Coleman and Debbie

Services for Lorene Majka, 84, of Arlington will be Thursday, June 9, at 11:30

She died Sunday, June 5, 2005, in Arlington.
Born August 23, 1920, in Agnes, she graduated from Baylor University School of
Nursing and served as a nurse in the United States Army during World War II,
achieving the rank of first lieutenant. She met her future husband, Walter, on a
troop ship traveling to Alaska.
Honorably discharged from the Army in 1945, she helped open Arlington Memorial
Hospital in 1958 and retired from there in 1983. While at the hospital she
founded central supply and served as president of the Texas Society Central
Service Personnel from 1977 to 1978.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Arlington
Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Majka and wife, Ora, of Bridgeport, Kenneth
Majka and wife, Linda, of Arlington; one daughter, Catherine Williams and
husband, Randy, of Arlington; grandchildren Melissa Nivens and husband, Clint,
of Alvord, Charles Majka of College Station, Staci Crim and husband, Matt, of
Murphy, Rebecca McCain and husband, Rick, of Fort Worth and Brent Williams of
Arlington; and great-granddaughter, Audra Nivens of Alvord.

McCandless died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in Decatur.
Born May 4, 1961, in Puerto LaCruz, Venezuela, to Jack Raymond Wilkins Sr. and
Doris Mae Lockhart Wilkins, she served in the U.S. Air Force and was HBF manager
for Washington Mutual.
She is survived by her life partner, Kathy Falcon; a son, Bryan McCandless and
wife, Brenda; a daughter, Karly Wooten and husband, Germaine; three
grandchildren, Xavier, Caitlin and Moira Wooten; a brother, Jack Wilkins and
wife, Karen; two sisters, Janice Wilkins and husband, Mike Smith, and Juanita
Wilkins; and three nieces and nephews.

Graveside service for Estelline McClary, 82, of Aurora will be at 1 p.m. Monday,
March 14, at Aurora Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Withers will officiate. Visitation
will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Chapel.
McClary died Friday, March 11, 2005, in Hurst.
Born July 4, 1922, in Decatur, she was a homemaker and a member of the Aurora
Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McClary; two brothers and three
sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Richard McClary of Arlington and David McClary of
Tennessee; a daughter, Janis Gallagher and husband, Richard, of Azle; six
grandchildren, Lori Kirkhuff, Mike Freeman, Bart McClary, Susan McClary, Nathan
McClary and Nicole Gamon; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and
nephews.

McConnell died Friday, July 22, 2005, in Decatur.
Born Aug. 20, 1920, in Paradise, she was a retired nurse’s aid.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Iva, Lorene and Jackie; and three
brothers Chris, Jeff and Avery Erwin.
She is survived by two daughters, Darlynn Jennings and husband, Bo, of Boyd and
Maxie Hubbell and husband, Herb, of New Mexico; four grandchildren, Clifton Day
and wife, Deidra, Timothy Jenning, Trent Jennings and Tiffany Read and husband,
Jason; six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Jacob Day, Triston and Kaiya Read,
Justin and Misty Wolf; and numerous nieces and nephews.

McCormick, John Richard, III

Funeral for John Richard McCormick III, 67, of Crane was July 27 at Tabernacle
Baptist Church. The Rev. David Bryant officiated. Burial followed in the Crane
County Cemetery.
McCormick died Sunday, July 24, 2005, in Midland.
Born Nov. 19, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., he married Patricia Joanne Fought on Nov.
28, 1957, in Michigan City, Ind. He was an Air Force Veteran, serving in the
Berlin Crisis, and was an aviation consultant and a member of the Experimental
Aviation Association, No. 98.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Fought McCormick of Crane; one son, Jay A.
McCormick and wife, Fiona, of Lubbock; two daughters, Jackie Hicks and husband,
Greg, of Midland, and Pamela McCormick Adams and husband, David, of Alvord; one
sister, Judith H.M. Cohen of Naples, FL; eight grandchildren, Amy Riddle,
Timothy McCormick, Amber Riddle Shock, Thomas McCormick, James McCormick, Sophie
McCormick, Dalton Adams, and John Jeffrey Adams and three great-grandchildren,
Joseph Hernandez, Cassidye Shock and Skye Shock.
Pallbearers were Doug Damron, Tony Jones, Jared Jones, Tre McDonald, Jaime
Sanchez and Gilbert Sena.

Funeral for Bonnie McCrary, 91, of Decatur was May 31, at Decatur Church of
Christ. Robert Isham officiated and was assisted by Rick Ross. Burial followed
at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1.
McCrary died Saturday, May 28, 2005, in Decatur.
Born April 17, 1914, in Bowie, she was a homemaker and a member of Decatur
Church of Christ. She married Claude Arnold McCrary in Bellevue in September
1934.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; two sisters and two
grandchildren, Eric Porter and Scotty McCrary.
She is survived by a son, Donald McCrary and wife, Judy, of Decatur; two
daughters, Pauline Porter of Decatur and Wanda Loveall and husband, L.D., of
Hughson, Calif.; a sister, Mary Adair of Duncanville; eight grandchildren; 16
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband James “Jim” McDaniel on Dec. 1,
2003.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Wade McDaniel and wife, Sue, of Weatherford
and Charles Ralph McDaniel of Bridgeport; a daughter, Virginia Lee Powers and
husband, Sonny, of Bridgeport; two brothers, Robert Howell and Paul Howell; a
sister, Gail Griffith; four grandchildren, Kathy Lea Hicks, Jimmy Wade McDaniel
Jr., Stefanie Lea Hicks and Christy Sue Gilbert; and six great-grandchildren,
