Hachtel, Robert L.

Service for Robert L. Hachtel, 89, of Alvord, was held Monday, May 27 at the First Baptist Church of Sunset with Dr. Ray Vowell officiating. Burial was in Ball Knob Cemetery.
Hachtel died Saturday, May 25, 2002, in Decatur.
He was born Nov. 2, 1912, in Bowie. He was married to the late Mary Kathleen Cason on May 31, 1940. Hachtel served in World War II with the 818th Division of the Army Air Corp. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sunset.
He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Hachtel Jr. of Alvord and Neal Eugene Hachtel of Decatur; a daughter, Kay Brashear of Dallas; a brother, Roland H. Hachtel of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Cora Earp and Mora Barton, both of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Ryan Hachtel, Jimmie Morales, Jammie Parker, Laura Brashear and Helena Brashear; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Sidney Parker.
Pallbearers were Jeff Jackson, Charlie Thomason, Charlie Jones, Biff Huddleston, Louie Lowrance, Kenneth Howerton, D.J. Rater, Jack Garrison, Frank Odom and Jim Metcalf.

Graveside service for George Leon Hall, 85, of Bridgeport was to be Saturday, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Chaplain Brent Phinney was to officiate.
Hall died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, in Bridgeport.
Born Jan. 23, 1917, in Bokchito, Okla, he had lived in the Bridgeport area for the past 33 years. He had the nickname of “Windshield Wiper.”
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva in 1994; two sons, Leon in 1975 and Earnest in 1965 and his parents, Frank and Alice Hall.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Hall and wife Jane of Bridgeport and Wesley Hall and wife Beverly of Chico; two daughters, Rebekah Miller and husband Norman of Bowie and Deborah Greston and husband Gino of Decatur; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Service for Martha Ann Hall, 63, of Newark was Monday, Jan. 28, at White’s Funeral Home in Springtown. Burial followed at Dido Cemetery.
Hall died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Newark.
Born Aug. 9, 1938, in Newark, she was a homemaker and former Avon representative.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Jackie Ray Hall; a daughter, Sharon Thompson and husband LeRoy; her mother, Lois Davis; two sisters, Carolyn Krebbs and Pat Lewis; a brother, Alan Davis; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Hamilton, Robert W. ‘Bob’, Sr.
1936-2002
Service for Robert W. “Bob” Hamilton, 65, of Chico will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at First Free Will Baptist Church in Bowie with the Revs. Larry Cox of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Bowie, Kenneth Wood of the Crafton Baptist Church in Crafton and Eddie “Bo” Johnson of the Worship Temple Church in Chico officiating. Burial will be in the Newport Cemetery in Newport.
Hamilton died June 3, 2002, in Bowie.
He was born October 10, 1936, in Freer. He married Patricia “Patti” Jones on Sept. 19, 1975, in Weatherford. Hamilton worked at Nash Hardware in Fort Worth for several years before he went to work for the James Giesecke U.S. Sport Sales in Hurst. In 1989 he moved to Chico and began ranching at the Fat H Ranch. In March 1999 he founded Gospel Hall in Bowie and operated it until December 2001. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.
Hamilton is survived by his wife, Patti Hamilton of Chico; a daughter, Deanie Berry of Fort Worth; two sons, Robert W. Hamilton Jr. of Anahuac and Johnny B. Hamilton of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren, Jeanene Hendriz of Alvord, Nichole Duffield of Fort Worth, Byron Berry of Fort Worth, Robert Hamilton III of Burleson, Chelsea Hamilton of Smithfield, Megan Hamilton of Coppell and Conrad Hamilton of Coppell; a sister, Mary Ropers of Burleson; a brother David Reese of Flower Mound and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Reese, Robert Hamilton Jr., Robert Hamilton III, Brian Duffield, Byron Berry and John Hamilton.

Born March 29, 1924, in Fort Worth, she was a homemaker. She married Rauls Weldon Hamm March 31, 1941, in Weatherford.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by one son, Richard Hamm of Burleson; two daughters, Paula Lowery of Haltom City and Joyce Bennett of Burleson; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Hammond died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, in Dallas.
Born Feb. 17, 1928, in Flint, Mich., he was a carpenter. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Bowie, the VFW Post 8789 in Bowie and The American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arline Hammond; a son, George Hammond and a brother, Clar Hammond.
He is survived by his wife, Helen E. Hammond; four sons, Kenneth Hammond Jr. of Justin, Bill Hicks of Houston, Paul Hicks of Bridgeport and Jim Tom Hicks of Bowie; five daughters, Nancy Vanhorn, Vickie Mitchell and Kimberly Valadez, all of Michigan and Cindy Lewis and Nancy Hicks, both of Bowie; four brothers, Glen Hammond of Detroit, Mich., Fred Hammond and Bob Hammond, both of Michigan and Bill Hammond of Alabama; five sisters, Mable Knight of Michigan and Etta Scarbough, Nellie Lyons, Betty Sessions and Shirley Savage, all of Mississippi and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Hancock died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, in Chico.
Born Nov. 3, 1938, in Mize, Miss., he was a retired printer and had lived in the Paradise community since 1976. He married Dorothy Jean Hudson on Oct. 14, 1967, in Jackson, Miss. He was a member of the Victory Family Church in Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his wife in May 2002; his parents, Clifton and Winnie Hancock and a sister, Peggy Hankins.
He is survived by four daughters, Becky King and husband Dale of Forest, Miss., Debbie Johnson of Fort Worth, Darlene Lindsey and husband Larry of Chico and Judy Scroggins and husband Russell of Boyd; a son, Billy Turner and wife Lisa of Sweeney; 10 grandchildren, Renea Shepard and husband David, Dwayne Taylor and wife Marsha, Sammy Taylor, Amber Galloway and husband Rowdy, Steven and Greg Denney, Aubrey Turner, Stancy Denney, Keri Turner and Robert Dale King; five great-grandchildren, Jason, Jasmine, Rebekah, Zara and Gabe Taylor; a brother, Allen Hancock of Columbus, Miss.; a sister, Ruby Mulvihill of Memphis, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews.

Hancock died Saturday, May 18, 2002, in Bridgeport.
She was born Feb. 20, 1945, in Clarksdale, Miss. She married Carroll Hancock Oct. 14, 1967, in Jackson, Miss. She was a member of Victory Family Church.

Service for Judith Ann Hanson, 64, of Decatur will be Thursday, Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church in Decatur. Dr. Cecil Threadgill and Rev. Kevin Moore will officiate. Burial will follow at the Sycamore Cemetery.
Hanson died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Fort Worth.
Born Dec. 24, 1937, in St. Paul, Minn., she married Gene Hanson on May 19, 1956 in Long Beach, Calif. She moved to Texas in 1981. During her career, she worked as a hospital administrative secretary, owned a restaurant and was self-employed as a trucking broker. She served as a school board president and on many community and church committees. She was also a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Judene and Laura Hanson of Decatur and Harlow Hanson and his wife Ronda of Madison, Neb. and four grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Jordan and Morgan Hanson, all of Madison.
Pallbearers will be Arvel Hubbard, James Hubbard, Chuck Eubanks, Dick Mayfield, Charles Pitts and Marvin Saunders.

Service for Florence Hardee, 85, of Burleson and a native of Decatur, was Monday, Jan. 7, at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth.
Hardee died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in Decatur.
Born June 1, 1916, in Decatur, Hardee retired from General Dynamics after 26 years as a chauffeur in the transportation department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burleson and the Esther Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murrill Hardee in 1997, and by her brothers, Floyd, Sam and Dick Lambert.
She is survived by her daughters, Mae Jolene Smith of Burleson and Marlene Henricks of Lubbock; a stepdaughter, Janet Nabours of Montague; a stepson, Tom Hardee of Saginaw; one brother, O.W. (Sonny) Lambert of Levelland; four sisters, Ruby Smith of Denton, Lorene Dickinson of Washington state, Billie Underwood of Sanger and Betty Caraway of Midland; 14 grandchildren, including Rick, Steve, Mickey, Donald and Renee McMaster of Decatur; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Hargrove died Friday, July 5, 2002, in Bridgeport.
Born July 26, 1928, in Elk City, Okla., he was a member of the Professional Rodeo Circuit and was a World Champion bare backrider in 1953 and 1954. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the First Assembly of God in Chico.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Weines.
He is survived by his son, Cole Hargrove and wife Shawna of Graford; daughter, Beth Kinsey and her husband Raymond of Nashville, Ark.; sister, Patty Price; and four grandchildren, Dustin, Tanner, Ashley and David.

Harms died Friday, July 5, 2002, in Boyd.
Born February 17, 1925, in Paradise, he was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the First Christian Church in Paradise. He retired from Continental Oil. He married Frances Albritton Jan. 11, 1998 in Boyd.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Bobbye Gentry Harms, son Jimmy Harms and sisters Etta Lorene Reid, Catherine Bowman and Helen Hartsell.
Pallbearers were Charles Sanders, Robert Ferrier, Don Jackson, Mike Hartsell, Milton Harms and Jim Stegall.
He is survived by his wife, Francis Albritton Harms of Boyd; daughter, Darla Daniel of Bridgeport; grandsons, Bryant and Jordan Daniel of Bridgeport; stepson, Glenn Albritton and step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Cassandra and Ashley.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Weldon Dudley Harris, Jr., of Mineral Wells; a daughter, Rhonda Gail Jackson of Tijeras, N.M.; a brother, Mario Harris of Comanche; a sister, Belva Jordan of Odessa; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Born Aug. 8, 1927, in Dodson to the late W.S. “Pat” and Maude (Bradshaw) Patterson, she was a retired administrative secretary for Eureka Life Insurance Company and then worked for Great Western Directories. She was a member of the Church of Christ and had lived in Wichita Falls for 55 years.
She is survived by two sons, Walter Harvey of Decatur and Jeff Harvey of Olney; three sisters, Mahoma Mann of Plainview, Polly McCormack of Wichita Falls and Ruby Holland of Brandon, Miss.; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Harvey, Larry Lee

Larry Lee Harvey of Dallas died Monday, June 10, 2002.
He was the uncle of Joan and Lee Vileta of Rhome and the great-uncle of Jay and Ryan Vileta of Rhome.
He was born in New Albion, N.Y. In 1956, he married Mary Peckham Harvey in Bradford, Pa.
He attended school in Randolph, N.Y. and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
He was formerly employed by Owens Illinois and Bradford Hospital.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Brian Patrick Harvey of Girard, Pa.; two daughters, Diane Harvey and Colleen Harvey, both of Dallas; four grandchildren; four sisters, Althea Newton of Forestville, N.Y., Norma Waite of Union City, Pa., Colleen Wallace of Dallas and Constance Peckham of Bradford, Pa.; and two brothers, Raymond Harvey of Lesistion, N.Y., and John Wallace of Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Keller; a brother, Furmin Hays and his parents, Duce and Peggy Carey.
He is survived by his wife, Shellie Hays of Boyd; the mother of his children, Anita Hays of Boyd; a son, Joshua Hays; two daughters, Tiffany Hays and fiance Loyd and Brittany Hays; a brother, Raymond Hays and wife Mellisa; two sisters, Glenda Aery and husband Michael and Brenda Rhoudes and husband Robert; a sister-in-law, Nancy Hays; five half-brothers, Willie, Norman, Jody, Billy and Timothy Carey; a half-sister, Rebecca Drywater and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born Oct. 13, 1952, in Tahlequah, Okla. He marrIed Nancy Hatley Dec. 1, 1977, in Miami, Okla. He was a carpenter and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Paul and Peggy Ruth Hays, and a sister, Ruth Keller.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Jason Lloyd Hays; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hines and her husband Terry; two brothers, Raymond Hays and his wife Mellisa and Bruce Hays and his wife Shelli; three sisters, Glenda Aery and her husband Michael, Brenda Hays and Anita Hays; and two grandchildren, Taylor and James.

Service for Thomas Burton Hays, Jr., 87, of Bridgeport was Friday at the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport with the Rev. Bo Blakey and the Rev. Joe Motsenbocker officiating. Burial was in the Thomas Cemetery.
Hays died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Decatur.
He was born July 20, 1914, in Bridgeport, the son of Thomas Sr. and Mary Bertie (Hartsell) Hays. He married Latrell Denton on June 19, 1978, in Decatur. He worked as a funeral director for Hawkins and Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home for 50 years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, the Shriners and Scottish Rite for 50 years and was active in the Masonic Lodge 53 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Melvina “Strawberry” Greagston Hays, three brothers, four sisters and a stepson and stepdaughter.
He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, Lee Roy Reasoner and his wife Yvonne, and Dennis Reasoner; seven step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Troy Hays, Fred Hays, Carl Hays, Hermann Hays, Russell Combs, Nolan Combs and Buddy Combs.

He was born March 20, 1917, in Galveston to Robert and Eva Hern. He served in the Pacific during World War II with the U.S. Marines. Hern was a retired technician with Bell Helicopter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Hern; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; three sisters and one brother.
He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Harvey and her husband Harold of Fort Worth and Patsy Chance and her husband Bill of Boyd; a brother, Harvey Hern and his wife Marie of La Marque; a sister, Deloris Robinson of Galveston; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Hinshaw was born January 27, 1934, in Brown County. He was a retired accountant with Texas Power and Light. He was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge. He was active in many civic organizations.
Hinshaw was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Joan Hinshaw.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Renee Jesse Hinshaw; two sons, Vince Hinshaw of Paradise and Cullen Hinshaw of Decatur; a daughter, Marianne Lee of England; a brother, Jerry Hinshaw of Stephenville and four grandchildren.

Born Feb. 14, 1922, in Tishomingo, Okla., she attended Southeastern State College at Durant, Okla. and the University of Oklahoma at Norman. She worked for the Corps of Engineers at Denison during the construction of Lake Texhoma and later for the city of Amarillo.
She married Lloyd E. Holland Nov. 7, 1945, in San Antonio. The couple moved to Tulia in 1959 where they managed Gusler Products for several years. During the early 1970s, Holland worked at the Swisher County Clerk’s office and in 1974, she and her husband became owners of Swisher Ambulance Service. The couple retired in 1987 and moved to Boyd in 1994. She is best remembered for her deep involvement in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA and the Business and Professional Women’s Club where she was recognized as Woman of the Year in 1970. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Holland; two sons, Charles E. Holland and wife Debbie of Hutto and Billy G. Holland and wife Melinda of Quanah; one daughter, D’Ann Johnson and husband Mark of Boyd; three granddaughters, Crimson Dawnivee Jimenez and husband Matt of Austin, Kristen Holland of Hutto and Rachel Holland of Quanah; three grandsons, Jonathan Johnson of Boyd, Kyle Johnson of Austin and Nathan Holland of Quanah; one great granddaughter, Maya Jimenez of Austin; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, H.F. Meeks, her second husband, Harold Holt in 1998 and a daughter, Ann Biggerstaff.
She is survived by two daughters, Nita Davis and Jean Beard, both of Aubrey; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Hopkins died Monday, March 25, 2002, in Austin.
She was born July 30, 1909, in Slidell, one of 14 children of Aurelius Coffey and Jesse Edna Bryant. She married Jesse Allman Hopkins June 7, 1930. She grew up on a farm where she not only worked around the house but also worked in the fields driving a team of horses or mules to plow, plant, cultivate and harvest field crops. She was a noted baker. She moved to Austin in 1980 where she was “Grandmother” to her family, as well as some 10 other children she cared for at various times. She was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975 and a daughter, Patricia.
She is survived by one son, Joe R. Hopkins and wife Emma Williams Hopkins; three grandchildren, David Joe Hopkins and wife Elaine, Jerry Nix Hopkins and wife Debra and Robin Gay Vogel and husband Paul; six great-grandchildren, Wesley David, Wendy Diane, Jess Allen, Justin Andrew, Russell Kneel and Paula Kay, all of Austin; one sister, Lonell Garrett of Rosebud, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Fort Worth and was a graduate of Paschal High School, Harvard College and the University of Texas-Austin Law School. He taught Spanish at Tulane University, the University of Vermont, the University of Texas-Austin and Hollins College in Virginia. He retired after 10 years of service with the Texas Department of Human Resources.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Dabney Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Guelma Brown Hopkins; a son, Robert Eliot Hopkins; his mother, Hermelinda R. Hopkins, all of Fort Worth and two brothers, Gregory R. Hopkins and Joseph A. Hopkins.

They moved to Bridgeport 25 years ago, and she became an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; a son, Joe Wayne Houtchens in 2001 and a grandson, Bryan Clay Houtchens.

Born Aug. 26, 1902, in Burnet to Dayton and Daisy Moses, she and her family moved to Fort Worth where she received her formal education. Her father was an attorney in Fort Worth. She married Toney Hunn and the couple built a home on their farm near Boyd.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Jack Hunn.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Hunn of Arlington; a daughter-in-law, Melva Hunn of Pottsboro; four sons, Terry T. Hunn and wife Alicia of Round Rock, Van T. Hunn and wife Jane of Fort Worth, Russell Hunn and wife Marilyn of Richardson and T.R. Hunn and wife Mary of Boyd and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jackson was born April 7, 1922, in Floyd County to Garvin Rawley Jackson and Mary Ruby Hall Jackson. He was a 1940 graduate of Floyd High School.
He served in the Army Air Corps from October 1942 through 1946. He married Jeanelle Holder on Jan. 11, 1948, in Weatherford.
Jackson was a captain for Delta Airlines, and he retired after 30 years of service on Jan. 31, 1982.
Jackson was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanelle Jackson; three sons, William F. Jackson II, Robert Willis Jackson and Bryan Keith Jackson; a daughter, Jan Jackson Cosgrove; a brother, Garvin Rawley Jackson Jr. and a sister, Mary Ann Hermann.

He was a former Bridgeport City Councilman. He was also a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Charlottie Jenkins; his wife, Caroline in 1975; his brother, Wesley and sisters Vera Mae Boring and Hazel Sheffield.

Born Aug. 14, 1918, in Raleigh, N.C., he once served as a music minister in several Wise County churches and taught music, drama and speech at Decatur Baptist College from 1951 to 1965. He received bachelor and master degrees from Bob Jones College and a master degree in religious education from Southwestern Theological Seminary. He started his music ministry in Rossville, Ga. After a one-year position at William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn., he returned to Dallas Baptist University in the fall of 1966, retiring in 1983. He continued his music ministry in Irmo, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Riddick Jones.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Chuck Jones and Judy Jones of Sulphur Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Terry Childers of Orange; a brother, Buck Jones of Durham, N.C.; a sister, Mary Frances Roscoe of North Port, Fla.; grandchildren, Lisa Shell Allan and Chris Allan of San Marcos, Courtney Childers of Huntsville, Graham and Wilson Jones of Sulphur Springs and Justin and Jeanna Childers of Fort Worth and three great-grandsons, Parker, Cooper and Miles Allan of San Marcos.

Morris was the brother of Betty Remmele of Paradise.
He died Thursday, June 27, 2002, in Muleshoe.
Born Aug. 7, 1921, in Fort Worth, he married Savannah Truelock on Aug. 17, 1952, in Pea Ridge, Ark. They moved to Muleshoe after living several years in Christoval. He served in the Merchant Marines and was a prisoner of war during World War II. He was a member of the Ex-POW Association and the American Ag Movement and was also a volunteer firefighter.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Bush and two brothers, Weldon Killough and Bill Killough.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Glen Killough of Post, Noble Killough and David Killough, both of Muleshoe; three daughters, Shirley Kubecka of Seminole, Joy Glover and Jonice Pollard both of Muleshoe; six sisters, Jimmilee Coffee of Midland, Louise Bush and Doris Jones both of Rising Star, Mary Fisher and Ruby Parker both of Brownwood and Betty Remmele of Paradise; three brothers, Donald Killough of Farwell, Floyd Killough of Rising Star and Warner Killough of Weatherford; 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Kroksh was born September, 8, 1921, in Tremonton, Utah. He was a retired vice-president of Consolidated Freightways. He married Lore Miner on Nov. 24, 1989, in Las Vegas. He served three terms of service in the military. From 1942 to 1945 he served in the U.S. Army Airforce as a pilot in World War II in the South Pacific (Guam). He served in the Korean conflict from 1950 to 1952, flying paratroopers out of Japan to Korea. Kroksh also served in the Vietnam conflict by flying troops and supplies to Vietnam. When not on active duty, he served in the Air Force Reserve. Kroksh was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lore Miner Kroksh of Decatur; two sons, Jay Kroksh of Utah and Thomas Miner and his wife Ann of Decatur; four daughters, Jane Skipworth and Becky Irland and her husband Mark of Decatur, Gina Walters and her husband Kelly of Palm Coast, Fla., Mona McCollough and her husband Tony of Grandview, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Former Wise County Commissioner Garland Ray (Buck) Lipsey, 90, of Decatur died August 4, 2002. Lipsey had served as Precinct 1 Commissioner serving the Decatur, Slidell and Greenwood areas from 1964 to 1976.
Funeral was Tuesday at the Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Lipsey was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ. Ryan Morrison conducted the funeral.
Lipsey was preceded in death by his wife Velma G. Bennett, whom he married in March 1936 and his wife Nancy Burtis Renshaw, whom he married in 1986. He was also preceded in death by a son, James Bennett Lipsey.
He is survived by his sons Garland Ray Lipsey, Jr. of Decatur and John (Dickie) Lipsey of Garland and step-sons Ted Renshaw of Lewisville and Steven Renshaw of Japan.
Other survivors include his sister, Mary Kate Courtney of Palestine and a brother, Murvil R. Lipsey of Broaddus and a special friend, Jean East of Decatur as well as nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She had worked in sales for Mask Drygoods in Bridgeport until she moved to Lake Worth in 1949. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Worth for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by husbands Claude Mader in 1934 and Samuel B. Petty in 1996; a son, Robert Lee Mader in 1933; a daughter, Jean Burns on March 2, 2002 and granddaughter Tammy Harless on May 8, 2000.

Following a private service, Sally Gettys Mahaffey, 80, of Fort Worth, was buried in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Mahaffey died March 14, 2002, at her home in Fort Worth.
She was born June 8, 1921, in Decatur, to Marion and Ethel Dement Gettys. She graduated from Decatur High School, Decatur Baptist College and North Texas State Teachers College. She married Phil T. Mahaffey in 1948.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Mahaffey of Austin and Dr. David Mahaffey of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Susan Hammack and Pamela Mahaffey, both of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren.

Mahon, Frances Florene

Service for Frances Florene Mahon, 81, of Fort Worth was Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Boyd. The Rev. Sonny Smith and Chaplin Don Oliver officiated.
Mahon died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in Weatherford.
Born Feb. 3, 1921, in Bosque County to Samuel Jackson Caughron and Willie Pearl Holt, she was a retired commercial seamstress and had been a resident of Fort Worth since 1947.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.
She is survived by a son, Don Sinclair and wife Tammy of Cleburne; two daughters, Joyce Alexander and husband Jim of Boyd and Linda Smitherman and Jo Gutierrez of Fort Worth; a sister, Mary Rowe of Belton; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Malone, Thomas

Graveside service for Master Sergeant (Ret.) Thomas “Tom” Malone was to be Saturday, Sept. 7, at Medlin Cemetery in Roanoke. He was the brother of Robert A. Malone of Bridgeport.
Born Sept. 22, 1922, Malone retired as a Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force after 21 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ella Malone; brothers, Morris Glen, Billy Ray, Grover Lee and James Wilson Malone.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Malone of New Jersey; brother, Robert A. Malone and his wife Carolyn of Bridgeport; and sister-in-law, Jackie Malone of Roanoke.

Maloney, Jacaquita Ann

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Jacaquita Ann Maloney, 61, of Rhome.
Maloney died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in Decatur.
Born Oct. 4, 1940, in Holdenville, Okla., she was retired from B.A.V. Inc. Construction Supply and a member of the First Baptist Church in Irving.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Maloney of Rhome; a son, Rodney Cox of Irving; a daughter, Renee Osborne of Irving; a brother, Billy B. Cross of Cedar Creek and five grandchildren.

Service for Roy Leon Maness, 62, of Dalhart was Tuesday, Jan. 8 at White’s Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown. He was the brother of C.G. Maness of Decatur.
Maness died on Jan. 1, 2002, in Dalhart.
Born in 1940 in Weatherford, he retired from the U.S. Air Force in April 1977.
Survivors include a son, William Shannon Maness of Pinney Flats, Tenn; daughters, Holly Lumpkins of Springtown and April Broyles of Jonesborough, Tenn.; brothers, C.G. Graveside service for Eligio Mares, Sr., 90, of Decatur was Friday, Jan. 25, at Oaklawn Cemetery. Juan Jimenez officiated.

Mares died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in Decatur.
Born Dec. 1, 1911, in Mexico, he was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Mares of Mexico; four sons, Manuel Mares, Vicente Mares, Lina Mares and Vriel Mares, all of Decatur; five daughters, Anastacia Mares and Leonon Carrillo, both of Decatur, Soledad Ceballos of Victorville, Calif., Ignacia Dominguez of Hempstead and Obdulia Mares of Gardena, Calif.; 39 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Marks, Leta Joyce Rice

Memorial service for Leta Joyce Rice Marks, 70, of Oklahoma City, Okla., was Friday, Feb. 8, at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
Marks died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in Oklahoma City.
Born Sept. 19, 1931, in Decatur to Rev. Joe B. Rice and Zora Stockton Rice, she graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City and attended Central State College in Edmond Okla., eventually earning two degrees from Northern Oklahoma College. She was an artist and musician, playing piano and the organ for various Baptist churches in Beaver and Blackwell, Okla. She served as a trustee on the Blackwell Regional Hospital and Oklahoma Baptist Hospital boards. She served as a medical assistant in offices in Beaver and Blackwell and as a neonatal registered nurse in Ponca City, Okla. She also had a construction business.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. John W. Marks of Oklahoma City; two sons, Steven Marks of Oklahoma City and David Marks and wife Jane of Edmond; two daughters, Jana Lamb and husband Rod of Oklahoma City and Julie Marks Blackstone of Shawnee; two brothers, Dr. Odus Rice and John Rice, both of Edmond; a sister, Sue Flanagan of Morris, Okla.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson and several cousins in Wise County.

Marsh died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Parker County.
Born March 8, 1961, in Altus, Okla., he married Beth Lambert Dec. 11, 1999, in Decatur. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Decatur. He was a carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Allen Marsh and one brother, Scott Marsh.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Lambert Marsh; mother, Barbara Ethel Morrison Marsh of Windom; one son, Bryan Marsh of Flower Mound; two daughters, Athena Marsh of Roanoke and Rebecca Marsh of Flower Mound; one brother, Gary Marsh of Carrollton; one sister, Cindy Clem of Garrison and grandmothers, Lillie Morrison of Locust Grove, Okla., and Erlene Marsh of Granite, Okla.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Lambert, Shane Smith, Scott Clem, Mike Troutt, Fred Fore and David Stevenson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Lambert, Trent Teague, Larry Hobbs and Clifford Lambert.
