Sachet Bags
Sachet Bags

Instructions

  1. I usually make lots of these bags at a time. I first cut strips 8-1/2" long of the whole (usually 45" wide) width of muslin.

  2. Using double or triple layer lace (I choose the eggshell colors or combinations of eggshell with blue, pink, etc. so that it more closely matches the color of the muslin), I serge lengths of lace to the both selvage ends (the 45" sides) of the fabric.

  3. Then cut strips 3-1/2" or 4" wide, depending on how wide you want your bags. Fold each in half. Set your serger to a finer stitch and sew each side of the bag including the lace. Apply some type of fray stop to the threads and allow to dry. Once the the threads are dry, clip them close and turn the bag.

  4. Fill with your favorite potpourri or fragrant herbs. Tie with a gold cord to close the bag and your project is complete. Potpourri can be refreshed with new oil or thrown out and the bag refilled.
