Rutledge family of Michigan

Stephanie,   You may have gotten some of your information from one of my postings. I wish that I could give you some concrete connections, but some of my information is kind of guessing from the information that I have gathered. Hiram died in 1886, Dec. 18 to be exact. He's buried in Ruggles cemetery in Berien Co., MI. I have scoured records for his death information. There is nothing that I can find. It was not mandatory at that time in MI. either state or county. There are no newspaper article that I can find. I have been through the microfilm for all the papers I can find for several weeks after his death. I did get a death certificate for John B. but that wasn't helpful either. It  said his parents are unknown. He died Nov. 22, 1874. and is buried in Lakeside Cemetery in Berrien co., MI. I have been unable to get to the archives in Berrien Co. as they have limited hours since they moved to a location in Stevensville, MI.  John B. was born in MD. most likely, but some of
the census records say PA.  Mercer Co., PA is on the border of Trumball Co., OH. He lived there for a while and then moved to IN where he married Rachel Smith in 1842. I don't know if he was a widower or divorced when he left Ohio.  In the 1830 census in OH. John had a son listed in the right age group for Hiram and I can't find any other connection for Hiram and he was born in Ohio. Also the fact that John B. had a brother Hiram or James Hiram. That made a "logical" connection for me. I'll keep looking and post anything else I find. I live in Michigan so do most of my research here. I plan to get to Ohio for some research maybe at the Genealogical Society library at Mansfield, OH.      Let me know if you want anything more at my email address [email protected]        Mary

The only info I have is that John B. was b. 3 Sep 1801, Baltimore, MD buried in Berrien Co., MI.
John's son Hiram was b. abt. 1823, OH m. Jane HATFIELD 8 May 1850, Cass Co., MI buried in Ruggles Cemetery, Berrien Co., MI

I have been unable to locate John B. on any census records to prove that he IS Hiram's father.
I also have possible info that John B. RUTLEDGE's parents are Michael RUTLEDGE and Mary Polly BURNS. Still trying to prove all of this.
Would love to talk to anyone with any info on this line.

I haven't seen the Maryland bunch mentioned yet.  My brick walls are Levi Rutledge, born in MD abt. Aug. 1803, d. 1874,  Adams Co., IL.  Married Elizabeth Bailey.

The other line is William Rutledge, 1797 in Harford MD, d. 1835 in Harford Co.  He married Sarah Cooper in 1822 in MD.

I'm researching Hiram RUTLEDGE ,b. about 1820 in Ohio and migrated to Berrien County, MI (actually found in 4 or 5 states), his son Wm.Henry Harrison RUTLEDGE was born 1855 in Rolling Prairie, IN  and married Mary Elizabeth RICHARDS in Berrien Co., MI, their daughter, Laura, was my grandmother.  Hiram married Jane Waters.  I think Hiram's father was John B. RUTLEDGE of Trumball Co., Ohio, but can't prove it.
