  Dear Friends,

My father Cecil M. Rutledge passed away yesterday at Wake Medical Hospital in Raleigh. He was 89. My Dad was descended from the Stephen Rutledge line. He was born in Wirth, Arkansas on July 12, 1917. He spent his childhood in Granite City, IL and later in Southeast Missouri picking cotton. He earned two bronze stars for his service in WWII where he was a combat medic and participated in the Normandy invasion. He later went to Michigan where he worked for GM 23 years, met and married my mom and had me and my sister. We moved to TN when he retired. He had six children of which I am the youngest and many grandchildren. On Thursday we will bury him next to my mother, Estel Clark Rutledge in Maryville, TN.

He is greatly missed,

Ali,

"Neal" would be the first name, not the last name.  So the last name would be
COOK.  I know that my William RUTLEDGE associated with COOKS/RUDDELLS/EZELLS
and that he was born about 1690 in DE/MD.  Half-siblings listed in his will
were KNIGHTS and that he was at one time married to one of the COOK daughters.
I doubt he had any children but resided in NC.

Hi Linda,
I'm not sure about this William, but the Ezells of Surry Co NC are

in the proper time frame? (there were no dates mentioned) is William Rutledge
b. abt 1795 NC, d.

These are my gggg
grandparents.  Their grandson, Jefferson F. Rutledge m. Frances "Nancy"
Catherine Ezell.  I don't
think I have any Neals in my database at all so the William you found
probably is not.  Its
curious though that he was also connected to the Ezells.

Ron, do you have any ideas?

This query didn't come from an individual, but based on my research of Rutledges in North-West Arkansas, and reminded by the following post, this information might help someone.

Some of my Rutledge relatives came from Missouri to Arkansas around 1890 or so and are buried with many unidentified Rutledges in the same cemeteries. One such Rutledge was the brother of my ggrandmother Chelnesse Matrina Rutledge Owen who came from Tyrone, MO with her husband Henry Mentlo Owen and young family. They located near Rogers in Benton County.

On second look I found Rutledges very early in Arkansas, around Marble in Madison County and other small towns. These were up to fifty years earlier than the arrival of our Rutledges......before the Civil War for sure.

On third look I found several references to early Rutledges moving north to Illinois. So this group may be mixed with known Rutledges (by our group) in Illinois. A period when many families left Arkansas and went north centered around families sympathetic with the Union cause just leaving Arkansas and going north where it was safer to live. Arkansas seems strongly supportive of the southern cause. This divided families against each, just one huge downside to that war.

So I am adding a link here to cemeteries in Arkansas where Rutledges are buried:

Rutledge in Arkansas

Rutledge in Texas

Rutledge in Tennessee

Rutledge in the Revolutionary War.

I think we can do better with more records, so please send them in so they can be indexed.

No, they are not the same cemetery.  Butler Ford is a

Benton County on Butler Ford Rd, which leads to a cul

me our family was associated with a family by the name of Hukins (Earnest),
and I found them in the same census (Spring Hill, Rapides.) I wrote to a

Dear List,
Just received this email from a newly discovered Rutledge-Baugher
cousin
from Elizabeth Rutledge line.  Elizabeth J. Rutledge was the daugher of
Lorenzo Dow Rutledge b.1813 VA and Polly/Mary Molsby of TN.  She says that
part of the TN Rutledge line ended up in SE MO and then to Blytheville, AR as
Baughers (pronounced Boyer in our line), as well as So. IL that I knew of in
Hardin County, IL.
Has anyone found any more info or proof on Jackson Middleton
Rutledge

Dear Barbara,
I found your query tonight in browsing the web. I have not researched
the Rutledge line for several years, but I am also a descendent of Lorenzo
Dow and Mary. I am a descendent of Elizabeth Rutledge and John Jacob Baugher.
I do have some information gleamed from census and marriage records and also
a copy of a bible record of  Lorenzo and Mary that were in my great uncle
(Eddie Baugher) possession. I am really interested in the information that
Lorenzo was the son of Jackson Middleton Rutledge. Do you have some type of
document or is this hear say information?
My grandfather, Thomas Valentine Baugher and his family came to the
bootheel of Missouri and then on to Blytheville, Mississippi County,
Arkansas. Elizabeth's
brother William Epsome Rutledge died 26 March 1942 in Pemiscot County,
Missouri. William and wife Mary M. were found in the 1910 Pemiscot Co. Mo.
Census. William was 53-TN, Mary M. 50-IL. Census stated that Mary had 10
children with 7 living. Only one daughter, Cend age 9-IL was listed in the
household.
In 1920 Pemiscot Co. MO Little Prairie PCT was age 60-IL, widow and had some
grandchildren listed in her household.
I will be happy to share what little information I have with you.
Again I am
really interested in the parents of Lorenzo Dow. I did find the marriage
date for Lorenzo and Mary. They were married 29 Jan 1835 Hawkins County,
Tennessee. The records are located in the Early East Tennessee Marriage
Records.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Mike;
My Rutledges ended up in Independence County,
Arkansas.  When did the Wilson and and John you
mention end up there?  William D Rutledge and his
family ended up at White River, Independence
County, Arkansas.  His sons ended up at Big
Bottom, Sulphur River, and White River, all in
Independence Co.

William D's father was John who married Catherine
Steelman. William D's grandfather was William
Rutledge who married Mary "Jane" Creson.

William who married Jane had a great grandson
named Wilson, btw.  And Wilson supposedly had a
brother, John.

Mike Rutledge wrote:

 Hello Richard
The James we were referring to was married to Sarah Willis.  His date of
birth is given as 1784 and death date is Dec 7, 1848. Census records
indicate a birth date between 1770 & 1780  The only absolutely documented
child is John Rutledge dob 15 sept, 1810.  I believe there were others
including my James A dob 1802.  There are just some UNPROVEN reports that he
was the grandson of Thomas Rutledge and Jean Armstrong by either James or
Edward Rutledge the sons of Thomas Rutledge and Jean Armstrong. A Bible
record says the father of James who married Sarah Willis  was a Edward
 Rutledge, but it stops there.

I hesitated to ask for information about this on the Rutledge L. Things like
this cause confusion later when scanning old post.  I have had this
information for over 10 years, but I have just looked every place I know to
look for documentation.  Just hoping for a hint or direction in which to
 look.

One of the other sons I believe is Wilson Rutledge dob ca. 1803 dod 21 Feb
1863 POW Camp Douglas IL.  I haven't located any of these families in 1820
census or other records. Both Wilson and John Rutledge moved to Independence
County AR.  I haven't found any connection between this group and the
 Hawkins county TN Wilson Rutledge.

I have seen several messages about the Hawkins county Rutledge families
which mention a Wilson Rutledge.  My James A Rutledge dob 1802 says he was
born in NC, but Hawkins County TN was claimed by VA and NC when it was
settled.  I have wondered where some of the early people would say they were
born? TN, NC, or VA.  The Hawkins county Rutledge & Armstrong lines I
 believe were mainly from VA.

I have some of the accounts of Stephen W. Rutledge and his civil war journal
which mentions my Wilson Rutledge or at least the one I claim.  The article
was from Pearl Rutledge and list the Wilson Rutledge from Monroe County TN
in 1830.  I have a list of all of this Wilson Rutledge's children and many
 of his descendants.

Pearl also mentions the Wilson Rutledge age 22 on the Hawkins County census
records for 1850. Stephen W Rutledge lived in Hawkins in 1844-1847, but was
in Bledsoe County TN living with his father in 1850. and in Giles County TN
 in 1860.

Subject: {not a subscriber} Ballard, Pinckney, Austin,Rutledge ,
WHITEfamily connections

I have a relative in Washington Co AR who was born about 1810 named Bassima
Ballard. She was daughter of Thomas Ballard and Martha L White. her sons
obituary said his MOTHER was related to the PINCKNEY, AUSTIN and RUTLEDGE
families of S.C. who all went back to Revolutionary War service.
Is anyone aware of such connections. ?? In this case it seems to be a
maternal connection as the Ballard line goes back that far as well.
I  am glad to share any Ballard, Severs, or Trent material I have and would
appreciate any connection to WHITE or BALLARD to those families.
Please reply directly as I am not a regular reader of your list.

Curious-  I have info on a WILSON RUTLEDGE who died in Stoddard County,
Missouri.  I believe he was the son of Emmanuel Rutledge and Sarah Kate
Wilson, and the brother of my g grandmother, Rebecca Rutledge, who also died
in Stoddard County.  The info on Wilson is on the Stoddard County page of
Missouri at the USGenweb site (or, rather, its replacement).  It is in the

JANE & FAMILY NOT FOUND BEYOND 1880 CENSUS

I'm not sure of any of the relations to Mr. Varnell.  He was listed as a
source for some records that were used in part of an article on the Rutledge
and Parsons family.  I spoke to a, Vernon Varnell from Rogers AR on
Wednesday.  He lives only about 5 miles from Boaz AL where I live.  I was
sure there was a connection, but he wasn't related to the Batesville
Varnells  that he knew of.
There is a reference in a Rutledge family book that I ordered to a Rutledge
family reunion that was held in Batesville AR in years passed.  The Rutledge
family was from TN.  The reference is in the section about the Jackson
Middleton Rutledge.

PS.  I spent this afternoon looking through the 1850 census records for
Cherokee County AL.  I promised someone that I would look for a Tennison
family?  I forgot who I was supposed to send the information to.  I think it
was for a Parsons connection.  I found the family.  Elizabeth Tennison,
Buncombe County NC, was married to John Miller who signed John Rutledges'
land records (1842) along with John Parsons and James Rutledge.

Are you talking about Flora Clyde Parson who married Orian Allen Rutledge?
I'd
like more info on this family as well.

I haven't had much time to work on genealogy for a while.  I have been
reading some of the older information I collected.  Some of the information

Rutledge Family Reunion Is Held On ‘Hallowed Grounds’ Of Mt. Zion

On Sunday, July 20, the third annual Rutledge reunion was held on the
sacred grounds of Old Mt. Zion, south of the river, the church which stands
out so clearly and with awe in the minds of the Rutledge descendants.
The morning program was opened by Walter Rutledge Jr. President.  Fred
Rutledge of Hot Springs led the opening prayer.
Mrs. Feba Moore of Pine Bluff and Mrs. Ida Varnell of Batesville, our two
darling aunts, age 84 and 80 respectively, were crowned “queens of the day”,
by Winnie Moore of Pine Bluff, daughter of Mrs. Feba Moore, and Adele Nash
of Batesville, great nice of the two queens. Each aunt was presented a
corsage as well as one to Mrs. Belle Varnell, our third lovely “Little old
Lady”. During the crowning, “Revive Us Again” was led by Cleve Sparkman.
Dinner was served and Harry Rutledge of Gilmer, Texas, asked the blessing.
Food, enough for Cox’s army, was spread on the long table placed under the
shade of the beautiful trees on the lawn.
After dinner a short period of visiting together was enjoyed, after which
we were called under the arbor by a piano prelude “I Am Saved” by Bertha
Rutledge.
After a brief sing-song a business meeting was called.  Gene Rutledge was
elected chairman and Patsy Sue Rutledge, Secretary-Treasurer, of next year’s
reunion to be held at the same place the last Sunday in July.
A newspaper clipping of the 55th wedding anniversary of our grandparents,
G. C. and Lovisa Rutledge of Jamestown, was read by Oma Wingo of Newport.
Walter Rutledge Jr. rendered solo “The Ninety and Nine in the Fold.”
The closing song was “When We All Get to Heaven”, and the benediction was
given by Mr. D. Inman.
Two hundred and fifty people registered from Battle Creek, Mich., Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma, New Orleans, Louisiana, Gilmer, Ft. Worth, Comanche, Ore
City, and Orange, Texas, Memphis Tennessee, and Popular Bluff and St. Louis,
Missouri, and 18 towns in Arkansas.
Each year a maverick returns to the fold. Each of us truly feel the
sacrifice many of us make to return for this, our family reunion each year,
is well repaid, and we are most fortunate indeed that “Aunts, Feba and Ida”,
are still with us, for they are the two survivors of G. C. and Lovist
(Lovisa )Rutledge’s union.

This is some information I have received over the years for the families of
John and Wilson.

WILSON (W.A.) RUTLEDGE
Born ca 1803) in NC
Died 21 Feb. 1863 of typhoid fever while
 A POW-CSA, Camp Douglas, IL.

MARRIED TWICE:
(1) md ca 1829 possibly in Monroe Co. TN. She has not been identified; no
marriage record found.
ISSUE: 3, possibly 4, sons, and 1 daughter.

2) md 1840 (per 1850 census taker), to a woman named Jane who possibly was
Jane Nations. A Pate descendant said she was ' referred to as "Grandma
Nations Rutledge" by older members of the family which would indicate that
she was not their grandmother by blood.
ISSUE: 2, possibly 3, sons and 3 daughters.
Again, no marriage record has been found. Early Monroe Co. TN and Cherokee
Co. AL are "burned" counties.

WILSON RUTLEDGE owned 320 acres in Independence Co. AR in 1859- BY 1860
census he was in Saline Co. AR. After the start of the Civil
War he joined. a CSA unit in Saline Co. where he is shown on the roster of
Co. B, Arkansas 1st (Crawford's) Cavalry as Wilson Rutledge, Sgt. The
original CSA record is filed as "W.A. Rudley." He was taken prisoner on 11
Jan. 1863 at Arkansas Post, AR and imprisoned at
Camp Douglas, IL where he died of typhoid fever on 21 Feb. 1863- There were
no muster roll cards dated prior to his capture so the date of enlistment is
unknown.  (Buried as W.A. Rudley in Oak Woods Cemt. Chicago IL, Confederate
monument)
If JANE RUTLEDGE, wife #2, followed an old custom, then her first daughter,
Martha, may have been named for the deceased wife. HUGH RUTLEDGE named a
daughter MARTHA LUCINDA. Could this have been for his mother and sister?

There are many JOHN RUTLEDGE descendants in Independence Co. AR and the
chronicler of this line shows my (Lucinda) Jane Rutledge as his daughter
even though she is not listed in the family Bible. My research has proved
this to be incorrect. John Rutledge possibly was her uncle. Jane may have
made her home with this family between the 1850 census and, her marriage to
Tom Pate in 1859-

WILSON RUTLEDGE'S SON, JAMES CALVIN, known as CALVIN, was born ca 1840; the
year Wilson married his second wife. The fact that Calvin was enumerated
with Tom and Jane R. Pate in the 1860 Indep Co. AR census makes me wonder
whether he was a son by the first wife. However, in 1870 he is living with
his family adjacent to Ja(i)ne Rutledge and her children in Jefferson Co.
AR.  Calvin Rutledge also served in the CSA but in a different outfit than
Wilson.

As a side note, Columbus (Lum) Knox Polk Rutledge, son of the above John
Rutledge and Rebecca Parsons, married Mollie Pate, sister to my Grandfather
Tom Pate. One of John's sons, G.C. (Gilbert Calloway Lorenzo Huston
Rutledge) bears a striking resemblance to a photo of Hugh Rutledge.  Oh,
that other mothers were as careful in recording their children's full names
as was Rebecca!

As compiled October 1994 by Jimmie Jean Pate Bowman, granddaughter of Thomas
H. Pate and Lucinda Jane Rutledge.

A Record of John Rutledge and his descendents

by Houston Odell Rutledge & Sybil King Rutledge

John Rutledge, b 15 Sep 1810 in NC; d 30 Jul 1880 in Jamestown, Ark, buried in the old Jamestown cemetery near his wife, the rock marker is now missing from his grave. A sketch of this family now in possession of a Mr. R. E . Moore of Pine Bluff, Ark, says he was born at Shiloh Ford of the Atkins, NC. I believe we will find that he was born in Duplin Co, NC. He is the son of James & Sarah (Willis) Rutledge. James d 7 Dec 1848 and Sarah rutledge d 14 Feb 1846, these dates and names are the earliest records in the Gilbert Calloway Rutledge Bible, now owned by Mr Vernon Varnell of Batesville, Ark. The sketch listed her as Sarah Willis and listed James' father as Edward Rutledge. There were errors in the sketch, some had been corrected by Gilbert Calloway Rutledge.

I have records that trace Edward Rutledge and his wife, Sarah (Armstrong) Rutledge from a will filed in Augusta Co, VA, on back to Ireland, however, we do not have proof at this time, due to lack of birth date and place for our James Rutledge, father of the above John Rutledge. These records were donated by Mr J Frank Berry of Lewis, Iowa, who does belong to the family of the well known Ann Rutledge that supposedly was engaged to Abraham Lincoln.

John Rutledge married 20 Jan 1835, Miss Rebecca Parsons, born 11 May 1814-1815 Tenn; died 5 Aug 1860 Jamestown, AR., buried in the old Jamestown Cemetery, has a stone headstone on her grave. She was the daughter of Mr Thomas Parsons and Mrs Susan (Madice) Parsons. The Bible gives the year of her birth as 1814 and her headstone has 1815.

We find John & Rebecca living in the section of Alabama that became Cherokee Co in 1836, they were there in 1835 before it was named. The 1850 Census shows John & Rebecca and five of their children, one child had died and was not listed. His name was spelled Rulage instead of our way of spelling Rutledge on that census record. Mr Legrand Dean was also listed as a helper on John's farm.

The courthouse in Cherokee Co, Alabama, burned in 1882, however, I did obtain the Census Record from Mrs. Robert Neville Mann in Cedar Bluff, Alabama, a genealogist.

John & Rebecca owned a large farm and the children helped with the farm work. When the oldest son was 17 years old, this whole family left Cherokee Co and came to Arkansas, settling around Alderbrook which was later names Jamestown, Ar. Some of the descendents still recall the stories their parents passed down to them about John owning slaves on his farm or plantation in Alabama and that he would sell his 14 & 15 year old slave boys. They left Alabama and arrived in Arkansas in 1852.

A John Rutledge served in the civil War under Capt Samuel R Fetzer and was on the muster roll of the members of this company when they were surrendered on 11 May 1865 and listed him as living in Galloway, Arkansas. References to the Independent Co Chronicle, Vol VI # 2, page 34 & 43.

Ten children were born of this marriage, as follows:

1.. Gilbert Calloway Loranzo Huston Rutledge

  2.. Sarah Jane Rutledge

  3.. Francis Marion Rutledge

  4.. Letha Emily Rutledge

  5.. Columbus Knox Polk Rutledge

  6.. Amanda L Rutledge

  7.. Jane Rutledge

Ron,
I just love ya ta pieces, you're so good with names,
(Sally Ann?). Yes my gg grandfather was Jefferson F.
Rutledge. He was in Scott Co. AR for the most part, I
wouldn't be surprised to find him in Union Co. also. I
had concentrated on Scott Co mostly, since that is
where the Hanes were also. I didn't find him on
earlier census, in 1870, he was in Denton Co TX. so he
moved around quite a bit, which isn't entirely
irregular. I found his land grant records for Scott
Co., you can see them on the myfamily site.
By the way, for those of you that didn't know, the blm
glo site has copies of the original land patent
records that you can copy or send for. I copy them to
my photo program.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow.
I am thankful for all the great people on this list
that have made my research more enjoyable. We do have
a great list; don't we?

Ali,

As compiled October 1994 by Jimmie Jean Pate Bowman, granddaughter of Thomas H. Pate and Lucinda Jane Rutledge. Jimmie Jean Pate Bowman, b 8-23-25 Newport, AR, 8th child

This is page 4 of the John Rutledge information Soldier in Captain Cullin's company. About 1865 he married Mollie Pate, member of another prominent James- town family. One of his daughters, Mrs. Prisilla Jane Haney, now lives in a rest home in Enid, Oklahoma. Amanda L. Rutledge, born February 24, 1846, and died in May of 1873. I have been told that she married a John Clayton. However, her marriage is not listed in the family Bible and we have no other information concerning her or her children. Jane Rutledge, born about 1848. She married Tom H. Pate a brother of Mollie Pate who married Lum Rutledge a brother of Jane. Tom Pate also served in Captain's Company during the Civil War with his brothers-in-law, Calloway and Lum. A curious fact is that Jane is not listed with other members of the family in the Bible, but a letter preserved in the Bible she wrote in 1876 to her (brother) Lum has proved the relationship. William H. Rutledge, born March 24, 1850. He married Miss Malinda Emboden whom was born in Texas in 1872. They were living in the Indian Territory, now Oklahoma, when they became engaged, and her parents sent her to Arkansas for the ceremony so she would be married in the United States. Their daughter, Mrs. Essie E. Duncan, still lives in Conway, Arkansas. John Gard Rutledge, born August 29, 1853, in Independence County. In 1872 he married Miss Martha Hargrave and lived near Ft. Smith, Arkansas. We do not have the names of their children. Their last child was Daniel C. Rutledge who was born in Independence County November 5, 1856. He died at the age of seven and was buried in the cemetery at Jamestown. The stone, which once marked his grave, is now missing. Many descendants of John and Rebecca live in Independence County today and once each summer they gather with those from out of state who can return for a family reunion. (Added at the bottom of the Article) Jane (Lucinda or Jane) was the Daughter of Wilson Rutledge. Wilson was possibly a brother of John Rutledge. Among other relatives, Jane had brothers Hugh, Thomas Huston and Andy (James Andrew or Andrew James) who migrated to Boise Idaho about 1860. Cemetery Search: Carrol County, Arkansas

NOTE from Kathye 2/14/99

This entry from the Missouri page of Don's "Most Wanted" is interesting and I have some further info on it and on the Arkansas cemetery entry. Who is searching for May Rutledge????

I have long had the information that May Rutledge Kiger died and was buried in Indiana. I don't know where in Indiana, but that's the family info that Grandpa Tom gave my mother.

Furthermore, I believe May's full name was Therresse May Rutledge. The reason for that is this -- a Therresse M. Kiger received land from Stephen Rutledge in Texas Co, MO. It was dated 6/21/1904 and recorded 12/31/1906, entry #10261 in the Deed Index book at the Texas County courthouse.

If anyone can get up there to look, it would be worthwhile. Stephen and Mary also gave/sold land to R.M. Kiger 1/29/1906, which was recorded 12/31/1906, entry #9547 in the Deed Index book.

The birthdate and death date of Jerome Rutledge match those of Jerome Pickard Rutledge, son of Stephen and Mary Rutledge. He married Myrtle Urback, and the dates of this Myrtle Rutledge are consistent with those you would expect for Jerome's wife. This is all the info I have on that line: Descendants of Jerome Pickard Rutledge

1 Jerome Pickard RUTLEDGE b: June 3, 1867 d: October 28, 1940 . +Myrtle Augusta URBACK .. 2 Blanche Ethel RUTLEDGE b: August 24, 1901 d: 1973 ...... +William Everett GEISLER b: 1895 m: February 17, 1923 d: 1972

I believe this came from Pam's cousin, William Geisler. I don't have his email address, however. Pam, does Bill have email yet? I would love his input.

I wonder if the Verna Rutledge buried in Mount Hebron cemetery is a daughter of Jerome and Myrtle? Any guesses on who the Menerva Rutledge was?

I have the following Rutledge in my family
(I am also related to Elijah Kelley whose son James Ashley Kelley's daughter Elizabeth married Dennis Houston Parsons (in Pike Co. AR by at least 1854) ......June March [email protected]

Descendants of John Rutledge

Generation No. 1

1. JOHN1 RUTLEDGE. He married REBECCA JANE PARSONS 1839, daughter of THOMAS PARSONS and JANE ANN.

Notes for REBECCA JANE PARSONS: Called Jane in some places and Rebecca in other places - but both married a Rutledge so I feel they are one and the same. (Found in Riceville, McMinn Co TN 1804-20) then some of the Parsons went to Rome GA and/or Ala. Most of mine ended up in Pike Co. AR.

Rebecca named on notes from cousin

Clyde Tom Parsons, Jr. 1236 Abbotsbury, Universal City, TX 78148.

Don............. Robert Willis Harrison was married to Myrtle Lee Beebe, sister to grandma Floye Beebe Pruitt. Grandma Sarah Flora Owen Kelly was married to R W Harrison father to Joe, Ed, Pearline and Agnes. Dad is buried next to Grandma Kelly and a younger half brother (dy). Marie Subject: [RUTLEDGE-L] Flora Owen Date: June 24, 1999 12:59 AM Kathye, Kay, Marie, Montez..........just reviewing the burials at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Arkansas. I never noticed before that Dad's mother Sarah Flora Owen (1882 - 1946) is buried there as Sarah Harrison. I completely forgot that she was married to Uncle Harrison when she died. Don't get the wrong idea our childhood Uncle Harrison was the father of two of our cousins. His wife then , Perlene, was the sister of my mother's mother, who's maiden names were Beebe. Don.

Don-

Sorry, I have no real data yet on my AR Rutledge bunch and where they settled...have few residence, marriage and burial locations such as Washington, Pulaski and Boone Counties, that's about it. Still researching.

Harriette Adeline Rutledge was married 1873 to Henry Lewis Jones in Washington County and buried 1920 in Boone County, that family were real pioneer settlers from what I have been told. Iverson Aiken Rutledge spent only a few years in Pulaski County after marrying Frances Rebecca Birdwell in 1870, first three kids born there. Then Iverson and family joined his siblings in Yavapai AZ where next five kids were born.

Mary Anne Rutledge married in AR in 1867 or 8 and we have yet to determine to whom, or where they went.

One of these, Little Berry Rutledge, we learned went up to Tahlequah District from AL by the fall of 1860, was in Civil War by late 1862. Died in conflict, was buried in Alton, IL Nov 1864. He was in a Cherokee Confederate unit, had been imprisoned in IL.

Have much on those Rutledge siblings that settled in AZ areas of Prescott and Verde Valley in Yavapai County, if anyone ever needs.

Richard

Pam, I enjoyed reading your info on Ripley Co., MO - thank you! Husband Roger's Great Grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Rutledge, married Obadiah Goodman (about 1890, place unknown). Obadiah's father, McElyea Goodman, married his 3rd wife, Rebecca J. Dailey, on July 09, 1878 in Ripley Co., MO. I wonder if there might have been Rutledge's right over one of the County lines... or the AR line. (?) Mary Elizabeth was born/raised in either Dent or Texas County, MO but apparenly her mother moved to Reynolds Co after her Dad died on 4 Dec 1889. Reynolds is separated from Ripley Co by Carter Co... Might be lots of interesting things in those three counties! Thanks again!

Kay
