RESTHAVEN CEMETERY

Resthaven Cemetery is located in Matilda Connell Survey, 3 miles south of Belton, 1/4 miles west of IH35 at the Shanklin Road exit. Just south of the Bell County Expo building. The list from which this posting was prepared was done in 1971. Due to construction and impounding of water to create Lake Belton, and construction of Fort Hood, the remains of those buried in the following cemeteries were reinterred at Resthaven: LIBERTY HILL, TENNESSEE VALLEY, DENMAN-WALTON, SELLERS, AIKEN, DOSS, HAWKINS and YIELDING

BROWN Elrina? 1846-1910

BROWN Infant daughter -1879 Dau. Of A. & E.C. BROWN
BROWN J.T. 1876-1936
BROWN John G. 1863-1941
BROWN Joseph 1836-1904
This material is not well organized and I may have sent the census information previously. I read the links from three pages of Bell County information and I believe I located the burial place and gravestone data for Elmina (Kelly) and Joseph Brown. I plan to be in Texas to attend the FGS Conference in September, and I may be able to locate the cemetery and get photos of the gravestones. While I believe this data is Emina Kelly (daughter of Hiram KELLY and his 2nd wife Malinda) and Joseph Brown, I would feel more comfortable if I can locate additional documentation.

Dear Kelly Cousin's,

I received this message from Monty this morning.
I found two 1850 census, Cherokee Co on Benjamin Kelly

1) 15th Dist. Household 933, p. 536, Roll M432_65, Image 136, Line 19:
Benjamin Kelly age 24, b. GA, Narcissa age 17, b. GA, Mary E. age 4, b. GA.
The date on this page is 19 November.  Benjamin and Narcissa are listed between Joseph &"Rebecca" Kelly and Andrew and Julianna Kelly.   There are no children for Joseph or Andrew while Benjamin has two children listed; Mary age 4 and Hiram age w.

2) 15th Dist., Household 1923, p. 536, Roll M432_65, Image 269, Line 27:
Benjamin Kelly age 25, b. NC, Narcissa age 20, b. GA, Mary age 4, b. GA.
The date on this page is 13 October.  The family before Benjamin and Narcissa is Thomas and Elizabeth  Monroe.  This entry includes Mary age 4 and George W, age 3.
There is a family and dwelling number next the George but it is duplicated on the next line.
These two shows a difference in Narcissa age by 3 yrs.  What do you make of this????

Monty

My guess is that Benjamin moved during the month between the census dates.  The census enumerator took the imformation from any one in the house or neighbors.  Which could account for the differences with the two entries.

I noted two things on interest on  page 536.  Near the top of the page is an Elizabeth Monroe, who could have been Thomas' mother or at least a relative.

Also there is an Owen family on this page.  I have some information from a person researching  the McGee line that suggest two of Elizabeth (McGee) Kelly's sisters married an Owen.  The person on this page could be the son of one of them.
