      14-100: Surveyed for Rawley Duncan, 326 acres in Washington Co. by virtue of a certificate from the Commissioners of District of Washington & Montgomery Counties, and agreeable to act of General Assembly of VA passed May 1779, lying on N.side Clinch River, beg. on S.side of the knobs adj. Benj. Nicholson corner and line, crossing over a part of the river into an Island, crossing back over said part of river at mouth of a creek, and up the creek above Buffaloe lick, to S.side of knobs, along said knobs. 21 Nov. 1782. /s/ Walter Preston asst., Parker Preston SWC. Recd. 14 June 1785, Grant issd. 26 June 1786.

      Pg.25-26: 26 Nov. 1782, surveyed for Rawley Duncan, 326 acres in Washington Co. by virtue of certificate, on north side of Clynch River, corner Benjamin Nicholson, ... crossing over a part of the river into an Island, ... above the Buffaloe Lick. Certification by commissioners that Rawley Dunkan is entitled to 400 acres by settlement made in the year 1773 lying in Washington Co. on Clynch River including the great Island, to include the place whereon he now lives, 14 Aug. 1781.
      Pg.147: 15 Nov. 1782, surveyed for Marlin (sic) Duncan, 320 acres in Washington Co. by virtue of certificate, on north side of Clinch River, beg. on a steep bank of the same, upper end of an island opposite the mouth of Bustards Run. Certification by commissioners that Marlin Dunkin heir at law of John Dunkin decd is entitled to 400 acres by settlement made in the year 1772 in Washington Co. on the north side of Clinch River known by the name of ??owle's ford a little below Phillip Phillips, 9 Augt. 1781.

Wit. Andrew Russell, Frederick Hamilton, D. Campbell, William Y. Conn, Abl. Laughlin. Commissioners appointed to go to Mary Gray and examine her for relinquishment of dower.

      1-117: 10 March 1789, Alexander Montgomery and Elizabeth his wife of Washington Co. to John Duncan of said county, for 90 pds current money of VA paid, sell to said John Duncan one parcel of land in said Washington Co. containing 200 acres on the north side of Holsteen River granted to said Alexander Montgomery by patent 5 June 1787, beg. at white oak on bank of river corner to William Mcfanch's(?) land and with a line ... to Thomas Slaughter's line ... on a ridge, ... bank of the river, together with appurtenances, warrant title. /s/ Alexander Montgomery, Elizabeth Montgomery.       4-435: 21 May 1811, William Thomas and wife Sarah (X) to Benjamin Duncan, both Washington Co. VA, for $300, 150 acres by survey 26 Nov. 1794 on top and both sides of Walkers Mountain, beg. at head of Robert Hendersons Creek, a south branch of the north fork of Holston River. Wit. Valentine Phaner?, John Steward, Michael Stoner. (FHL film 34,365)
      13-419: 20 Oct. 1828, John Smith, Joshua Duncan, Henry Duncan, Squire Ward and his wife Winney, and Benjamin Duncan, to Abner Duncan, all Washington Co. VA, for $50, all our interest in a tract of land that Benjamin Duncan Senr. died seized of, being the heirs of the same, 150 acres by survey 26 Nov. 1794, in Washington Co. on the top and both sides of Walkers Mountain, bounded ... beg. north side of said mountain near the head of Robert Hendersons Creek, a south branch of the north fork of Holston River. No indication of any signature by mark. Wit. Peter Minnick JP, Robert Davis JP, Henry Black. Certification by Peter Minnick and Robert Davis that Winney Ward, wife of Squire Ward, released her dower. Proved in court 25 Feb. 1839 on oaths of Peter Minnick and Henry Black. (FHL film 34,370)
      14-354: 23 Oct. 1840, John Smith, Emanuel Smith, Archimedes Smith, and Eliza Ann Smith, of Washington Co. VA, to Abner Duncan of same, for $15, all their right, title and interest to land on the top and both sides of Walkers Mountain, 150 acres, being the same lands patented to Jacob Shutters 22 Oct. 1800, which was conveyed to Benjamin Duncan now deceased by William Thomas and wife 21 May 1811, which Benjamin Duncan died seized and possessed and which descended to his children and heirs, these being nine of them. The interest of the said John Smith being a life estate in right of his wife Phoebe decd and in one undivided ninth of said land, and the interest of the said Emanuel, Archimides and Eliza Ann being the reversionary interest in the said ninth in right of their mother the said Phoebe Smith decd, ... /s/ John Smith, Emanuel Smith. VA, for $150, 150 acres on both sides of Walkers Mountain, beg. on north side of said mountain near the head of Robert Hendersons Creek, a south branch of the north fork of Holston River. No wit.       22-85: 29 Nov. 1853, James Tomlinson and wife Mary to Henry Duncan, both Washington Co. VA, for $600, 194 acres in Poor? Valley, land conveyed by Abraham Hayter by deed 18 Sept. 1810, at foot of the little mountain, south side Clinch Mountain. No wit. (FHL film 34,373)
