Butler owes sundry persons $1105.50 and is pressed for immediate payment and cannot raise same unless by sale of his whole estate which consists of his interest in his wife's real estate, one very old horse, five head cattle, a few shotes, and his household and kitchen furniture; that Asenith Butler, wife of said Landon H. Butler, is willing to ?raise? (?save?) the said sum of money to enable Landon H. Butler to discharge his debts by joining with him in a conveyance of 72-1/2a of real estate to William Fletcher which is described in the deed from Landon H. & wife Asenith Butler to William Fletcher; deeds in trust to William A. Browning and Benjamin Lillard the execs. of his will; and whereas the surviving legatees of Nicholas Browning, to wit, Charles Smith and wife Mildred, Cornelius Smith and wife Tabitha, James A. Browning and Jane his wife, thought it advisable and did consent in writing that the execs. should sell the whole estate both real and personal, and in pursuance of that agreement they advertised the land, negroes &c to be sold to the highest bidder on 1st Aug. 1849, the land to be sold 1/3 paid on 1st Jan. 1850 and balance in two equal installments to be secured by bond with approved personal security without interest. The land was offered for sale, Benjamin H. Duncan the highest bidder became purchaser at $7.52 per acre, there being by a recent survey 243 acres, and has since complied with the terms of sale; now this deed 8 Feb. 1850 from Charles Smith and wife Mildred of Culpeper Co., Cornelius Smith and wife Tabitha, James S. Browning and wife Jane, Benjamin Lillard and wife Elizabeth of Rapp. Co., Wm. H. Browning in his own right and as trustee for Elizabeth Lillard and the children of Lucy A. Kinsey and Cassandra McQuin, and Catharine Browning wife of said Wm. H. Browning of Culpeper Co. VA; to Benjamin H. Duncan of Rappa. Co., for further sum of $1, the above mentioned tract of land adj. the said Duncan's mill, John J. Browning's, Allen's run, the Morris tract of land, a rock cliff, Benjamin Mozingo's line and house, containing 243 acres, reserving 1/4 of an acre on which the grave yard is located with a right of way to same.       I-310: 7 Sept. 1844, Mary Ann Duncan of Rappahannock Co. to George Ficklen of Culpeper Co., for $1, one undivided moiety of the tract of land owned and occupied by Jesse Garner her father, lying and being in the counties of Culpeper and Rappahannock, supposed to contain 434 acres, one moiety of which would be 217 acres; for the meets and boundaries of said tracts of land reference is made to the deeds from Hisle, Jones, Brown, and others to Jesse Garner aforesaid upon record in County Court of Culpeper. VA, for $393.33, payable 1/3 on 9 Aug. 1855, 9 Aug. 1856, and 9 Aug. 1857; interest in dower land of Sarah Corbin (formerly Sarah Munroe), 59 acres adj. Dr. Kinsey, Robert Bywaters, John G. Parks, Blackwater Run, (formerly Fairfax corner), Aldridge Grimsley's corner formerly Field's corner, which right and title amounts to 6/9, being William, Walker, John & Lewis Munroe, John Sullivan and Gabriel Odg's interest which Duncan purchased.
