      This book contains references to Duncans on pgs.48, 49, 190, and 246-248. It also refers briefly to "Reminiscences of Early Days in TX" by N.C. Duncan, who mentioned "my mother Mrs. Mahala Duncan with five sons," as part of a company of emigrants from TN in 1835. (MAD: from Madison Co. TN, Robert Duncan died 1828; William S. Duncan of Wheelock, Texas, a Veteran of the Mexican War, and the oldest survivor of Texas Pioneers" (Franklin, Texas: Texas Power Print, no date), in Folder No. 32, "Printed," Benjamin Cromwell Franklin Papers, The University of Texas Archives, Austin.
      Vol.10, pgs.397-399, contain an article on the Retaliation of the Caddos 1835-6 and Other Reminiscences, by Newton C. Duncan of Wheelock, sources listed were "Proceedings of the Sixth Annual Reunion of the Old Settlers' Association of Bell Co. Held at Belton, TX, November 5, 1904, and Papers Read at the Reunion" (no place: no publisher, no date), pp. (33)-34. Newton C. Duncan, a son of Mahala Duncan, a widow, was 11 years old when she was sworn as a Robertson colonist on February 26, 1836.
      Vol.10, pgs.429-430, contain another brief mention of the Newton C. Duncan family in February, 1836.
