Cataloged under Civil War, 1861-1865, pensions, indexes; does not say if Confederate or Federal, but probably Federal. Negative film, some cards much too faint or dark to read, some cards blurred or faded, particularly the service unit and the dates of application. Most of the very faint or dark cards were in a slightly different format, with space for years enlisted and discharged which were sometimes filled in. Many of these were for service in later years, although one or two were for service ca 1866.
Name of soldier, alias, name of dependent widow or minor, service (military unit or units), date of filing, class (invalid or widow or minor or other), Application #, Certificate #, state from which filed (sometimes blank), attorney (sometimes blank, MAD: did not usually copy), remarks. Sometimes the "Invalid" or "Widow" class had an "s" added to it before the application #; occasionally the area for the service information included a circled "S". The minor's name was frequently that of the guardian rather than the minor.
The military unit was frequently the Company Letter, the Regiment Number, sometimes US Vet Vol Inf. (US Veteran Volunteer Infantry), L.A. (Light Artillery), H.A. (Heavy Artillery), US C Inf (US Colored? Infantry), Cav. (Cavalry), Mil. Guards, V.R.C. (?Volunteer Reserve Corps?), etc. Sometimes there were several service units given.
Cards appear to be arranged by the last name, first name, middle initial if any, and state (including "US") of service.

Pearl Fike who d. leaving Herbert and Clye with their Fitzgerald grandparents; Frona A. wife of Thos. Petty; Thos., Kile and Herman. Mr. Fitzgerald owns a good 75-a farm 2-1/2 mi. Jordan, and 3 children were born to this union: Luther L., Mary J. (wife of J.W. Howard) and Ida J. September 10, 1866, Mrs. Frierson died, and February 8, 1870, our subject married Martha L. (Granberry) Duncan. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Granberry, were born in NC in 1798 and 1804 respectively. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Frierson: John and Donna Maria. ...

Pg.647: J.A. Weatherly, dealer in fine groceries at Harrison, AR, b. in Maury Co. TN, Jan. 27, 1844, the third of nine children born to Samuel M. and Eliza J. (Duncan) Weatherly, the former of who was a native of VA, an early pioneer of TN from which state he moved to IL about 1853 and settled in Union Co., then to Jackson Co., d. ca 1880. Served as Lt. during the Civil War in 109th IL Vol. Inf.; wounded at Vicksburg. His wife a native of TN, she died shortly after her husband. Baptist.

Pg.165-6, Ohio Co. REV. MILBURN A. MAXEY, born March 7, 1848, died Nov. 6, 1884, aged 36 years 7 months 29 days; died of liver disease; he joined the Logan Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, at Cavena, Hart Co. KY, Oct. 1869. He went to Cumberland University in Feb. 1870. He was licensed to preach at Rockfield, Warren Co. KY, on 12 Aug. 1871, in his 24th year, and was ordained in 1872. He preached in Arkansas Co. AR during summer of 1872. ... He graduated in theology in Cumberland University in June, 1875, and began his active labors as a pastor in Christian Co. KY, ... until he left there, nearly three years ago, and removed to Columbia [Maury Co.], TN, where he labored until his death. He conversed freely before his death about his future prospects. On Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 4, the substance of the following conversation took place. I said to him: "Brother Maxey, I did not get to go to our last meeting of Presbytery. ..." ... Rev. T.J. Duncan (Methodist) said: "Brother Maxey, if you have anything to say to your wife, children, father, sister, or friends, you might say it now." ... "His wife said, "If it should come to the worst, where do you want to be laid to rest!" He replied, "On that grand old hillside where I used to play in childhood, if it suits you all." Brother Duncan said, "But Brother Maxey, would you not like it better, if it suited all around, to be buried here in the midst of your flock, where they could watch over your grave and do you honor?" ... The burial services were conducted by the Rev. J.S. Grider of Bowling Green, KY, ... assisted by the Rev. T.J. Duncan, former pastor here of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and co-laborer here with Brother Maxey ...
