Duncan and Sally Duncan, 16 May 1884, both now confined to bed and likely they will die by consumption before the cause can be heard; Asel Duncan and Sarah E. Duncan own two valuable tracts of land March 1884; Anne Adcock wants the land to pay off judgement; 31 Aug. 1886 statement by R.A. Cox that Asel Duncan is deceased and Sarah E. Duncan is his admx.

1859: Andrew J. Duncan & Co. vs. Henry and Thomas H. Roberts. Deposition 10 Aug. 1860 by William Harris, aged about 36, security for defendants on mortgage. Deposition by Robert A. Cox, age about 27, who witnessed deed of trust to William Harris. (more not copied)

Pg.B206, Rich Precinct, Union Co. Luke M. Jones, physician, Lick Creek, native of TN, born April 15, 1827, in Jackson Co. His father, Samuel, born 1791 in VA, and his mother, Eleanor (Mathena) Jones was born in 1796, in the same State. The parents settled in TN in 1824, and finally in ARkansas where they died. Eleven children, viz, Nancy, Elizabeth, Thomas, Samuel, Permela, John, Luke M., Larkin, Eleanor, Sarah and Arminta. Our subject's paternal ancestors were of Irish origin, while his maternal ancestors were of English parentage. His grandfather, Luke M. Mathena, served 7 years in the Rev. war and drew a pension from the close of this great struggle until death age 104 years 6 months 4 days; he was elected and served as Sheriff of Monroe Co. KY in 1830 and for awhile Probate Judge. Our subject treasures a set of coat buttons as a namesake gift from the above named ancestor, which were carried through the war. Luke M. Jones was brought up on the farm ... age 19 began study under tutorship of Dr. S. Lee of Wayne Co. TN, one year later, he pursued the same with E.L. Duncan of Jackson Co. TN. In less than 2 years, or in 1853, he came to Moscow, Union Co. IL and entered office of Dr. D.M. Jones (no relative) where he remained 5 years; in 1858 he began practice in Rich Precinct ... for 2 years, then Stokes Precinct for 18 years, then returned to Rich Precinct, will shortly locate at Lick Creek. Married July 13, 1847, to Sarah, born Feb. 25, 1827, dau. of Joshua Hall, native of VA; she died June 14, 1883 in Johnson Co., children: James I., John H., W.L., Ruth A. and Lovena R., she a member of Methodist Church. ... He a member of Jonesboro Lodge, A.F.&A.M., Democratic party.
