Cataloged under Civil War, 1861-1865, pensions, indexes; does not say if Confederate or Federal, but probably Federal. Negative film, some cards much too faint or dark to read, some cards blurred or faded, particularly the service unit and the dates of application. Most of the very faint or dark cards were in a slightly different format, with space for years enlisted and discharged which were sometimes filled in. Many of these were for service in later years, although one or two were for service ca 1866.
Name of soldier, alias, name of dependent widow or minor, service (military unit or units), date of filing, class (invalid or widow or minor or other), Application #, Certificate #, state from which filed (sometimes blank), attorney (sometimes blank, MAD: did not usually copy), remarks. Sometimes the "Invalid" or "Widow" class had an "s" added to it before the application #; occasionally the area for the service information included a circled "S". The minor's name was frequently that of the guardian rather than the minor.
The military unit was frequently the Company Letter, the Regiment Number, sometimes US Vet Vol Inf. (US Veteran Volunteer Infantry), L.A. (Light Artillery), H.A. (Heavy Artillery), US C Inf (US Colored? Infantry), Cav. (Cavalry), Mil. Guards, V.R.C. (?Volunteer Reserve Corps?), etc. Sometimes there were several service units given.
Cards appear to be arranged by the last name, first name, middle initial if any, and state (including "US") of service.

Thomas Duncan, the father of our subject, was a native of Kentucky, and was born near Lexington [Fayette Co.]. 59-79/81: Archibald Duncan to Mary E. Halsell &c. Exec. deed, Int. in Estate Jacob Duncan. 1872 May 7. This indenture 7 May 1872 between Archibald Duncan of Ray Co. MO to Mary E. Halsell, wife of Elijah M. Halsell, & John H. Ewart of Bourbon Co. KY, for $2250 paid in land in Ray Co. MO, sell and convey all first party's undivided right and interest to real estate of the late Jacob Duncan, viz, a tract of 12 acres+ of land on the waters of Townsend in Bourbon Co., beg. corner to Wm. David in Smith's line, then ... Duncan's line, then ... Shawhan's line, then Rail Road lot, then W. David's line on eastern edge of rail road, excepting out of foregoing, about 5? (2?) acres sold by Jacob Duncan to KY Central Railroad & to David Tale? leaving about 10 acres & 39 poles in the described tract. Also 1 acre more or less conveyed to Jacob Duncan by David Shawhan on waters of Stoner adj. above tract, and is all of the land conveyed to Jacob Duncan by said Shawhan except that portion sold to Samuel Ewart & John T. MO to the use of the inhabitants of Congressional School Township 52 of Range 27 for $463.66 or thereabouts which is due by mortgage upon land in Ray Co. afsd, which was given in exchange for the land afsd and for the precise amount of said indebtedness reference is made to the said mortgage, and also Nimrod Duncan is indebted to said John H. Morehead for $67.74 and is also indebted to John H. Morehead and Company for $67.27 with interest from the time they became due, now if the several sums of money shall be unpaid on 1 April 1844, then the said John H. Morehead may sell at public auction so much as may be sufficient to satisfy the amount remaining, advertisements in Daviess Co. and in Caldwell Co., the proceeds to the debt due the county and then to the debt due said John H.
