      Pg.465: Hartland Township. In the fall of 1858, a pair from Wisconsin, in the personnel of John P. Duncan and John P. Huggins, drifted in and secured homes. Duncan dropped anchor in section twenty, and remained a citizen of the town until within two years, when matters became too torrid for him and he left between two days, as the saying goes.
