KY for paternal love and affection convey to my son John Duncan legally begotten, for 5 shillings, all my property that I now possess, real and personal, consisting of lands and stock of horses, cows, hogs, sheep, household furniture of all and every manner without reservation, as a deed of gift free from every claim. /s/ James Duncan. KY having served in Governor Shelby's expedition of mounted volunteers in the fall of 1813 in the character of adjutant to the 8th Regiment commanded by Colo. John Callaway and having thereby created a claim against the government for my services aforesaid, do constitute James Duncan my attorney in fact, with power to seek after and obtain any means that may be owing to me from the government afsd on account of said services and do authorize him to sign any voucher or vouchers that may in any wise be necessary to draw a receipt for said monies, hereby rectifying and comfirming all and every thing said Duncan may do under this power of attorney. 25 June 1814. /s/ Joshua Norvell. KY to Elizabeth Jennings late Elizabeth Duncan, Nancy Dunkin, James Dunkin, Sally Vert late Sally Dunkin, Polly Anderson late Polly Dunkin, William Dunkin, Fancy? Dunkin, Isabela Dunkin, and Joshua Dunkin, all of them legal heirs and representatives of Joshua deceased late of Clark Co. KY; that whereas Henry Haynes on 10 May 1815, gave his obligation to convey to said Joshua deceased a certain tract of land where he lived on containing 198-1/2 acres, which bond was in the following words, ... this shall oblige me ... to cause to be conveyed 198-1/2 acres of land including the place where I now live on the waters of Tuels Creek, Breckenridge Co, to John Dunkin or his representatives by first April next at which time possession is to be given, ... /s/ 27 May 1815, Henry Haynes, wit. Chas. Clarkson and Jacob Vert; in consideration of said bond, Joshua Dunkin gave his obligation to the said Henry Haynes for $950, $95 of which sum the said Henry Haynes and Pheba his wife ack. receipt at the time of making the contract, $560 they have this day received from Thomas Wornall the admin. of said Joshua Duncan decd, and the balance of the $950 to be paid in two equal annual payments from 1st of April next; now in consideration of such, Henry Haynes and Pheba his wife convey to said Elizabeth Jennings, Nancy Dunkin, James Dunkin, Sally Vert, Polly Anderson, William Dunkin, Sidney Dunkin, Isabela Dunkin, and Joshua Dunkin, the representatives of said Joshua Dunkin decd, a parcel of land in Breckenridge Co. on waters of Tuels Creek containing 154 acres, being part of a tract of 179 acres which was deeded to said Haynes by William Hardin and Susanna his wife on 31 Dec. 1812, beg. at corner to Henry Gees, then ... line of Wm.       E-98/99: 22 Dec. 1819, Jacob Vert to William Dunkin, both of Breckenridge Co. KY, that William Dunkin owes Jacob Vert $150, to secure the payment, the said Dunkin in consideration of the premises and $150 paid by said Vert, the said Dunkin sells to said Jacob Vert the goods, furniture and household stuff hereinafter particularly mentioned, to wit, 2 horses, 2 beds and clothing, 20 acres of land, all his crop of corn and wheat and two blade stacks, one cow and calf, but if William Dunkin shall pay Jacob Vert $150 with interest before 1 June 1821, this shall cease, warrant title. /s/ William (X) Dunkin, Jacob Vert.       E-434/436: 19 June 1821, William Hardin Senior to Hetha Duncan and Samuel Duncan, all Breckinridge Co. KY, that in a suit in Chancery lately pending in the Breckenridge Circuit Court where above William Hardin Senior was complaint and above Hetha Duncan and Samuel Duncan and others were defendants at the Oct. term 1818, in which amongst other things it was ordered that John Duncan, one of the defendants in the suit, should recover of his CoDefendants Hetha Duncan and Samuel Duncan the sum of $29.75 with interest at 6% from 25 June 1813? until paid, and in case the money was not paid by 1 Dec. 1818, John Sterett was appointed commissioner to sell and convey the land in the complainant's bill, which was an undivided 2/3 of 300 acres described in a plat in the suit, and out of the money, pay the judgement, and the ballance to pay Hetha for the use of herself and son Samuel Duncan. But in case the judgment of John Duncan afsd was paid off, it was ordered that William Hardin Senior should deed the undivided 2/3 of the 300 acres to the above Hetha Duncan and Samuel Duncan. And since the decree, Hetha Duncan and the guardian of Samuel Duncan who is an infant under age 21 years has come to a division of the 300 acre tract with Benjamin Hardin Esqr. who was by a decree of the same court at the same time entitled to the undivided 1/3 part of the 300 acres, from which division Hetha Duncan & Samuel Duncan were entitled to 204-3/4 acres included in the following metes and bounds, ... corner to Benjamin Hardin's 95-3/4 acres allotted him for his part of the 300 acres, then to ... in the original line, to the beginning. NOW this indenture ... do convey to Hetha Duncan and Samuel Duncan the above 204-3/4 acres with appurtenances, and William Hardin Senior covenant with said Hetha Duncan and Samuel Duncan that William Hardin Senior is the sole owner of the premises in fee simple, and will warrant title. /s/ Wm. MS, being legal heirs of Thomas Holt decd late of Harrison Co. KY, for diverse considerations to us, nominate our brother David Holt of said Harrison Co. KY our attorney to sell etc. the lands of our decd. father and to settle any liability with the proceeds which our father would have been responsible for on account of sales of land in state of OH or elsewhere, ratifying anything he may do in relation to the said Thomas Holt's estate.       L-402/403: 28 Sept. 1837, James Duncan to William P. Pool, there was a dispute with regard to the division line between the land on which James Duncan resides and the land on which William P. Pool resides purchased of Benedict Lucas and for which an ejectment is now pending in the Breckinridge Circuit Court and which suit is compromised and the parties agree that a line to be run beginning at ... one of William P. Pools original corners and then ... shall be the division line between the parties, and they further agree that should they extend their cleared land further than is now cleared for the mutual advantage of both and the neighbourhood, they will leave 7 feet on each side of that line for a lane both where the lane now is and so far as they may extend the lane by extending their clearing, and James Duncan for himself and as attorney for Willis Green and as agent for George P. Duncan to whom said James Duncan as attorney for Willis Green had sold the disputed land for the compromise and for $9 paid, does quit claim to William P. KY, for $1500, $300 paid and 1 note for $300 due 22 Jan. 1853, the 2nd note for $300 due 22 Jan. 1855, the 3rd note for $300 due 22 Jan. 1856, and the 4th and last due 22 Jan. 1857, a lien is hereby reserved on the land to secure the payment, have sold to said Martin a parcel of land in Breckenridge Co. Madison's lower? 500 acre survey, then ... Newman's corner, then ... G.D. Cooper's corner, then ... bank of Clover Creek ...to P.V. Duncan's corner of his 28 acre lot, then ... to the beginning; 2nd, beginning at corner to Roberts survey, then ... state road, then ... original line of Madison's survey, then to the beginning, with appurtenances, warrant title. /s/ Obadiah Newman, Frances Newman. KY, for $4000 paid, sell 3 lots in town of lower Cloverport which are designated as lots 5, 6, and 124, the last lot being a slip of ground next to Clover creek and the Ohio river, being the same lots conveyed to said Duncan by Jefferson Jennings with appurtenances, warrant title. /s/ Philo V.
