KY to James Duncan of same, for 300 pounds current money, parcel of land in Barren Co. on Boyds Creek containing by survey 500 acres, being a part of a Military claim of 1,950 acres patented in the name of John Kerney and by him conveyed to James McLaughlin and by the said McLaughlin to the said Joseph Duncan by deed 22 May 1800, and bounded as follows: beg. at two white oaks and a maple and running with one of the original lines North 70 deg. E 77 poles to a black gum and dogwood, then South 45 deg. KY; that whereas said William Bell has this day been appointed attorney in fact by Seth Duncan and his wife Ruhama Duncan of Nelson Co. KY to receive claims due them from the estates of William Henshaw and Ann Henshaw decd. late of Berkley Co. VA; now if said William Bell as attorney should recover or receive any money or other property from the estate, in order to provide for the payment of 1/2 of such money or other property, for $1 paid by Joseph Duncan, grant to said Joseph Duncan a tract of 500 acres, being part of a tract belonging to Sarah Bell containing by patent 1714 acres at the mouth of Peters Creek on Big Barren River in Barren Co. KY, and which moiety of 500 acres was purchased by said William Bell from James Blue, and all houses, buildings, orchards, watercourses, profits, etc., in trust; that if William Bell shall fail to pay to Seth Duncan & Ruhama his wife or their heirs the 1/2 of such estate as he may recover as their attorney from the estates of William & Ann Henshaw, in a reasonable time or upon demand, then Joseph Duncan may sell the above land at public auction and pay Seth & Ruhama their money and the balance to William Bell; wit. Court, William Logan Clerk binds Levi Pedigo to John Duncan to learn the trade of a blacksmith, Levi Pedigo shall serve the said John Duncan for 3 years from 1 May last, shall obey all reasonable commands and shall not absent himself without leave, and John Duncan agrees to teach Levi Pedigo the trade of blacksmith and give him schooling and sufficient meat, drink, washing and lodging with good wearing apparel and at the expiration, give him a decent new suit of clothes. 27 July 1818, /s/ John Ducan.       H-381/382: 31 May 1821, Samuel Murrel, Deputy Sheriff for John Pool Sheriff of Barren Co. to Joseph Duncan, that two executions of Fiere Facias issued from the Barren Co. Circuit Court Clerk's Office, one on 17 March 1821 returnable Saturday preceding 3rd Monday in May next after its date for $169.20 with interest at 5% from 4 March 1820 until paid and 71-1/2 cents costs in favour of Joseph Duncan against the estate of Jonathan Jewell & George Jewell, and the other execution issued on 3 April 1821 returnable to Saturday preceding 3rd Monday in May next (after its date) for $69.55 with interest at 6% per annum from 4 March 1820 until paid and 20-1/2 cents cost in favour of J. & F. Gorin against the estate of said Jewells, each directed to the Sheriff of Barren Co. and came into the hands of said Samuel Murrel Deputy Sheriff for John Pool Sheriff of Barren Co. and were levied on 100 acres land in Barren Co. the property of said Jonathan Jewell, being the tract of land on which Edward Gray now lives and said land was sold at auction to the highest bidder and said Joseph Duncan became purchaser for $230, which payment Samuel Murrel ack., now he conveys to said Joseph Duncan 100 acres of land with appurtenances, warrant title against the claim of Jonathan Jewell. /s/ Samuel Murrel D.S. for John Pool S.B.C.       I-41/42: That Horatio Cleland on 5 April 1820 conveyed to me by mortgage a lot of ground on Main St. & Green St. in town of Glasgow, Barren Co. KY, to secure payment of $1,000 payable in 4 annual payments by notes given for $250 each, and the payment of $1,000 has been made and the 4 notes fully satisfied by John Duncan who purchased said lot of said Cleland, now I William T.       I-65: 20 March 1822, Thomas Duncan of Barren Co. KY appoint Lowry Bishop of afsd my attorney in fact relating to the collection of a certain sum of money which is due to me from David B. Morgan of Louisiana for which judgment has been obtained in my name against said Morgan, and get from the Court the note upon which judgment was given or a copy of the record of said judgment in order to commence suit against said Morgan wherever he may be found, and employ counsel and recover, collect and give receipt for said money. /s/ T.
