Smith the father of said Elizabeth, and which property was placed in the hands of Joseph Duncan through Robert Dyson in trust by the executors of the estate and will of James R. Smith by deeds recorded in NY and by deeds and relinquishments from the other heirs of said James R. Smith decd, and Joseph Duncan sold the said real estate consisting of lots and lands as follows, 7 lots in Stanton Square to Rowland Dyson & others to the amount of about $24,000 on Elizabeth Street and Eldredege Street for $4,500 and on 16, 17 & 18 Streets between the 5 & 6th Avenues to Kelsey & Compoch? for $28,975, and also lands to Otis P. Jewet, G. South? (Smith?), J.R.Brady? & others in the state of NY for $15,000, and Joseph Duncan has received the above sums of money and has paid it out from time to time in property in the state of IL with the view to anferring [transferring?] the property interest and estate belonging to his wife and her heirs from the state and city of NY to the state of IL, their pt all? of residence, and the following lots and lands in town of Jacksonville, Morgan Co., are a part of the land purchased [with that money], Joseph Duncan conveys the lands to the Revd. Wright are petitioner and William Caldwell and Roda Caldwell and Minerva Caldwell are defendants, an order was made on 28 Nov. 1848 directing certain real estate to be sold at the dwelling house near Trunklin in Morgan Co. occupied by Abner Wright at the time of his death, at public auction to highest bidder on a credit of 12 months with interest from the day of sale, the purchaser to give approved personal security, and a lien to be retained, the real estate might be sold in one body or in such parcels or subdivisions as would realize the most money, notice given, ...       ZZ-188/189: No.1136. Dunlap (Sheriff) to Duncan. That at the June term 1842 of Circuit Court of Morgan Co., a judgment was obtained in favor of the State of Illinois against the following tracts or parcel of land for the following sums, to wit, against E 1/2 SE 1/4 Sec.8 Twp.15N Range 11W for $No? 88/100 tax & 49 cents costs. Also against W 1/2 NE 1/4 Sec.12 Twp.15N Range 12W for $3.84 tax and 49 cents cost, also E 1/2 NE 1/4 Sec.12 Twp.15N Range 12W for $3.84 tax and 49 cents costs, also NW frac. 1/4 Sec.7 Twp.15N Range 11W for $5.18 tax and 49 cents costs, being the tax, interest and costs due on the tracts of land for 1841. And whereas Ira Davenport then Sheriff sold at public sale on 11 July 1842, and James Dunlap offered to pay the aforesaid $2.88 tax and 49 cents costs for the afsd tract of land, the E 1/2 SE 1/4 Sec.8 Twp.15N Range 11W, which was the least quantity bid for the said lot of land, was stricken off to him at that price. And James Dunlap ... offered to pay $3.84 and 49 cents costs for W 1/2 NW 1/4 Sec.12 Twp.15N Range 12W, was stricken off to him at that price. And James Dunlap bid $3.84 tax and 49 cents costs for 5 acres off W side of E 1/2 NE 1/4 Sec.12 Twp.15W Range 12W ... stricken off to him. And James Dunlap bid $5.18 tax and 49 cents costs for 10 acres off E side of NW fractional 1/4 Sec.7 Twp.15N Range 11W, stricken off to him. And James Dunlap on 8 March 1844 sold the aforesaid tracts of land and transferred his cert. of purchase by assignment on the back of same to Anna Maria Duncan, NOW therefore I Alexander Dunlap present Sheriff of Morgan Co. IL for the several sums of money paid to the former Sheriff by said James Dunlap at the time of the sale, and the assignment from Dunlap to Duncan, have sold to said Anna Maria Duncan her heirs and assigns forever the above described property ... subject to all rights of redemption provided by law. /s/ 2 Aug. 1844. /s/ Alexander Dunlap, Sheriff, Morgan Co.
