About My Research

I have been doing genealogical research for some 20 years, since I was in high school. I started out the old fashioned way by mailing letters and visiting courthouses, cemeteries, and libraries. Only in the past 3 years have I used the computer and the internet to reach more resources and more related researchers.
When I first started out, I did a poor job of documenting my research, but I have learned well that to omit sources renders the information useless. If I share information, I include, and expect to receive in return, well-sourced information. I do not have most of my research in databases or in gedcom format yet, so I cannot share it that way, but I am more than willing to help fellow researchers when I can.
I am not a professional genealogist, but I have 20 years experience in a wide variety of geographical areas within the USA. Major repositories I have visited include the Oklahoma Historical Society, the National Archives branch in Ft. Worth, the Library of Congress, the Connecticut State Library, the New England Historic Genealogical Library, the Massachusetts Archives, and the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. I also own my own business and work a 50+ hour week, so I make these trips rather infrequently.
One of the neat things about genealogy is connection with cousins, no matter how distant, with whom you can discuss and share your common ancestry. Please contact me if we are researching any of the same lines!
