Lecture in the Church
Irongray Lecture and Display of Artifacts
Local History Week -- 4th to 12th May 2002  celebrated the rich heritage of Dumfries and Galloway.  Many lectures, exhibitions and tours of historical sites were arranged by various heritage and local history groups throughout the Region.
The following three pages of photographs provide a brief visual record of one such event held in Irongray church and graveyard on afternoon of Sunday 5th May 2002.
The speaker was Moira Aitken, an acknowledged
expert on Irongray history and author of:
KIRKPATRICK IRONGRAY  Memorial Inscriptions
and Hearse Society Burial Records.
Moira in the pulpit. She introduced her talk by saying
that while her late husband was Minister of Irongray
she had not been allowed to stand there.
