During World War II
Dumfries was host to the the Norwegian Military High Command in exile. Their headquarters
was located in an imposing red sandstone building in the centre of town.
A derelict textile mill near this graveyard was turned over to them and served as
barracks. |
The graves below are
located in a well tended newer section of Troqueer graveyard beside the River Nith.
This photograph, taken in early Spring 1999, shows the start of the cherry blossom along
the river with early blooming heather over the graves. |
