2267. Foster Sanford SISSON-2751 (Sanford , Jabez , Joseph , James , George , Richard ) was born in 1825 in Albany, New York. He died on 31 Mar 1865 in Bentonville, Benton Co., Arkansas.

Foster and his birth family moved in 1833 to Ripley, Ohio. Foster and Sarah moved to Barry County, Michigan, in 1851 and settled on property now occupied by grandson Clarence Sisson. Foster entered the Civil War September 6, 1864, at Jackson, Michigan, with his two younger brothers. He was a private in Co. I, 21st Infantry of Michigan. He was part of Sherman's March to the Sea. He participated in the Battle of Bentonville, North Carolina. Wounded on March 19, 1865, he died March 31 of a head wound. He was buried at Goldsboro, North Carolina, and later moved to Releigh National Cemetery.

Foster married (MRIN:1488) Sarah Jane BURD-6521, daughter of Henry BURD-12738 and Delilah HAPPOCK-13086 (MRIN:3040), on 1 Jan 1851 in Ripley, Brown Co., Ohio. Sarah was born on 22 Feb 1829 in Hunterdon Co., New Jersey. She died on 29 Sep 1887 in Barry Co., Michigan.

Sarah is buried in Irving Cemetery, Barry County, Michigan.
